🔧 Shade Tree Christians? Growing up, I often heard Mama refer to someone as a "shade tree mechanic." These were the individuals who worked under a tree, in a backyard, or in a small garage. People sought them out because they were usually less expensive than a certified dealership, and often they would do only what you wanted done—or tell you only what you wanted to hear. Life, however, has a way of teaching us an important lesson: you generally get back what you invest. Whether it's time, trust, knowledge, expertise, or truth, shortcuts often come with hidden costs. The same principle applies to our spiritual lives. Today, we live in a world where many claim the name "Christian."
