📌 QUESTION OF THE WEEK — JUNE 18, 2026

❓ What Does the Bible Say About Suicide?

Sakura (16) from Osaka, Japan, writes:

"Good morning, Pastor James. No one wants to talk about suicide, and in my age group it is often viewed as a way of escape. Please help us understand what the Bible says about this difficult subject."

Sakura, thank you for your courage and honesty.

Suicide is one of the most painful realities facing our world today. Behind many suicidal thoughts are people carrying burdens they feel are too heavy to bear.

The Bible teaches that life is a gift from God and that every person is created with value, purpose, and dignity. While suicide is not God's desire for anyone, Scripture also reveals a God who is full of mercy, compassion, and understanding.

The Bible does not teach that a person is automatically condemned because they died by suicide. Only God fully knows a person's heart, struggles, and circumstances. Salvation comes through God's grace and faith in Jesus Christ.

If you are struggling today, please hear this: You are not alone. There is hope. There is help. There is healing. God sees you, loves you, and cares about what you are facing.

The real question is not, "Is life worth living?" but, "Will you trust God to walk with you through this season?"

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a trusted friend, family member, pastor, counselor, or crisis resource.

🙏 We're praying for you, Sakura—and for everyone fighting silent battles.
