Is It Wrong to Ask God “Why?”

Many believers carry this question quietly in their hearts. When life turns unexpectedly painful, confusing, or overwhelming, “Why, God?” often rises before any other prayer. And no—asking God why is not wrong.

Throughout Scripture, faithful men and women asked God hard questions. David cried out in the Psalms. Job questioned deeply in his suffering. Even Jesus, in His humanity, voiced anguish from the cross. These moments were not acts of rebellion—they were expressions of relationship.

God is not threatened by honest questions. He is not offended by sincere wrestling. What matters is where the question is directed. Asking why in faith keeps the conversation open. Asking why while remaining before God keeps the heart anchored, even when answers do not come immediately.

Sometimes God explains. Sometimes He comforts. Sometimes He remains silent—but never absent. Faith is not the absence of questions; it is the decision to trust God with them.

If you are asking why today, don’t run from God—run to Him. He can handle your questions, your tears, and your waiting.
