GrandMamma's Prayers (2nd Edition) by James Langston

Amazon, paperback, hardcover, and Kindle eBook, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DC6L74FR.

Some people leave behind money.
Others leave behind property, titles, or accomplishments.

But every once in a while, someone leaves behind something far greater:
A legacy of prayer.

That is the heartbeat behind GrandMamma’s Prayers (2nd Edition) by James Langston.

This is not just another book.

It is a deeply personal and emotional human-interest story about a remarkable woman named Bertha Meriwether — a praying great-grandmother, a matriarch of faith, a spiritual warrior, and a centenarian whose prayers helped shape generations.

Born in 1895 as the daughter of former slaves, GrandMamma Bertha lived through wars, hardship, poverty, social upheaval, and enormous change. Yet through it all, one thing never changed:
Her faith in God.

She prayed when times were hard.
She prayed when food was scarce.
She prayed when storms came.
She prayed for her children, grandchildren, and generations she would never live to see.

And those prayers still echo today.

In this touching and unforgettable memoir, James Langston opens his heart and invites readers into a world where faith was real, prayer was powerful, and family was held together by the unwavering love of a praying grandmother.

This book will make you laugh, reflect, cry, remember your own loved ones, and perhaps even inspire you to pray again.

In a world searching for hope, GrandMamma’s Prayers (2nd Edition) reminds us that some of the strongest people who ever lived never stood behind pulpits, cameras, or microphones — they stood quietly in prayer.

If you have ever loved a grandmother…
If you have ever needed strength…
If you have ever wondered whether prayers truly matter…

This book is for you.

LIFE IS FRAGILE — DON’T WASTE THE TIME YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN

“Yet You sweep people away in the sleep of death—they are like the new grass of the morning: In the morning it springs up new, but by evening it is dry and withered.” — Psalm 90:5–6

Life is fragile.

We hear those words often, spoken by both Christians and non-Christians alike, because deep down we all recognize the truth of them. No matter our background, wealth, education, status, or beliefs, every one of us is living on borrowed time.

The moment we are born, though tender and full of promise, we begin the slow journey toward eternity. Every sunrise is a gift. Every breath is mercy. Every passing day brings us one step closer to the reality that this life, as we know it, will not last forever.

That may sound uncomfortable to some, but truth often is.

Psalm 90 reminds us that humanity is like grass that flourishes briefly in the morning and withers by evening. We are like shadows that appear for a moment and then fade when the light grows dim. The years move quickly. Childhood becomes adulthood. Strength becomes weakness. Yesterday becomes memory.

And yet, in the middle of life’s fragility, there is hope.

The brevity of life should not drive us to fear — it should drive us to purpose. It should move us to love deeper, forgive quicker, pray harder, serve faithfully, and seek God while He may be found.

One day, the titles, applause, possessions, and accomplishments of this world will fade away. But what we did for Christ, the lives we touched, the kindness we showed, and the souls pointed toward God will matter forever.

So today, slow down long enough to remember:
Life is not promised.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
But this moment is a gift from God.

Live wisely.
Love genuinely.
Forgive freely.
And never forget that eternity is far longer than time.

🌍 ARE WE SO BUSY MAKING A LIVING… THAT WE’VE FORGOTTEN TO PREPARE FOR ETERNITY? ⏳

Think about it for a moment.

We work.
We build.
We chase success.
We plan vacations, careers, retirements, investments, and futures.

But sooner or later—even the atheist agrees with me on this—this life will end.

And when it does…
what then?

For many people, eternity is the “X” factor.
The uncomfortable question few want to talk about.
The subject people avoid until tragedy, sickness, loss, or death suddenly forces them to think about it.

But what if you could have the best of both worlds?

What if Jesus Christ not only prepares you for eternity… but also teaches you how to truly live NOW?

That is the beauty of the Gospel.

Jesus Christ gives purpose for today and hope for tomorrow.
He helps you navigate heartbreak, fear, loneliness, confusion, disappointment, and uncertainty in this life—while also preparing you for the life to come.

The world tells you to “live your best life.”
Jesus shows you how.

📖 Romans 10:9–10 says:

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Simple.
Powerful.
Life-changing.

God never intended for you to merely exist.
He created you to know Him, walk with Him, experience His peace, and spend eternity with Him.

The question is not whether eternity exists.
The question is:
Where will you spend it?

Today, I encourage you:
Don’t just prepare for retirement.
Prepare for eternity.

And the beautiful part is this:
When you truly walk with Christ, you do not lose this life…
you finally discover what life was meant to be.

🌍 SOMEBODY’S MIRACLE MAY BEGIN WITH YOUR KINDNESS TODAY ❤️

Right now, while many of us are enjoying the comfort of home, countless families across the Philippines and parts of Asia are facing very real struggles:
🙏 Hunger
🙏 Flooding
🙏 Sickness
🙏 Poverty
🙏 Displacement
🙏 Spiritual hopelessness

For many, this is not a headline.
It is daily life.

A mother wondering how to feed her children.
A family trying to recover after devastating storms.
A child needing encouragement, prayer, food, school supplies, or simply hope.

This is why Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International exists.

Through missionary outreach, evangelism, compassionate support, prayer, and humanitarian assistance, we are working to bring BOTH help and the hope of Jesus Christ to hurting people who desperately need to know they are not forgotten.

And today, I’m asking you to prayerfully help us continue that mission.

Every act of generosity helps:
❤️ Feed struggling families
❤️ Support outreach and evangelism
❤️ Provide Bibles and Christian resources
❤️ Encourage children and communities
❤️ Expand missionary efforts throughout Asia
❤️ Open more doors to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Sometimes the greatest sermons are not preached from a pulpit…
Sometimes they are demonstrated through compassion.

Your generosity may become the very thing God uses to remind someone that He still sees them, loves them, and has not forgotten them.

🙏 Please prayerfully consider supporting our Give Butter campaign today: https://tinyurl.com/3jjdpajd

Together, we can bring hope, help, and the message of Jesus Christ to people who need it most.

🌅 GOOD MORNING — THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2026 🌅

Today’s prayer is simple.

“Lord, I am not asking You for anything today. I just come to thank You.”

Thank You for the doors You opened that no man could shut.
Thank You for the prayers You answered — even the ones I did not immediately recognize.
Thank You for protecting me from dangers I never saw coming.
Thank You for every mountain You carried me over and every valley You walked me through.
Thank You for grace when I failed, mercy when I struggled, and strength when I felt weak.
Thank You for family, friends, provision, peace, and another day of life.

Some of us woke up this morning tired.
Some woke up carrying burdens nobody knows about.
Some are still healing from heartbreak, disappointment, sickness, loss, or uncertainty.

And yet… we are still here.

That alone is reason enough to thank God.

Before the emails.
Before the meetings.
Before the stress.
Before the worries about tomorrow.

Pause for a moment and simply say:
“Lord, thank You.”

🙏 MORNING PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Today I come before You with gratitude in my heart. Not to ask for anything, but simply to thank You for all You have done in my life.

Thank You for Your faithfulness through every season.
Thank You for waking me up this morning with breath in my lungs and another opportunity to live, grow, love, and serve.
Thank You for the blessings I see and the ones working quietly behind the scenes.
Thank You for never leaving me, even during the moments when I felt alone.

Lord, help me never become so distracted by what I still want that I forget to appreciate what You have already done.

Today, may my heart remain grateful, my spirit remain humble, and my faith remain strong.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen. ❤️
