📌 Question of the Week — Why Does God Allow Evil?

From: Sherry, 17 — Sandpoint, Idaho

“Hi, Pastor James… Why does God allow evil? If He could stop it, why doesn’t He?”

Sherry, thank you for asking what so many feel—but few say out loud.

God did not create us as robots. He created us with the ability to choose. And with that freedom comes both the possibility of love… and the reality of evil.

Love that is forced is not love at all.
Obedience without choice is not righteousness—it’s programming.

From the very beginning, humanity was given a choice: God’s way or our own. Sadly, many choose paths that lead to brokenness, injustice, and pain. What we see in the world today is not a failure of God—but the result of humanity turning away from Him.

But here is the hope we must hold onto:

God sees. God knows. And God will act.

There is coming a day when evil, suffering, and death will be completely removed. Justice will prevail. Healing will come. And what is broken will be made whole.

Until then, we live in the tension of a fallen world—but with a risen Savior.

So perhaps the deeper question is not just:
“Why does God allow evil?”

But rather:
“What will I do in response to it?”

Will I become bitter… or better?
Will I contribute to the darkness… or carry His light?

Because every act of kindness, truth, faith, and love pushes back against the darkness.

Sherry—and everyone reading this—you matter. Your choices matter. And your light can shine brighter than you realize.

🌿 The Choices We Make — A Daily Turning Point 🌿

📖 “He did evil in the sight of the Lord…” — 1 Kings 22:52

In Scripture, Ahaziah chose to follow the broken path of his parents instead of turning toward God. He repeated what he saw—continuing cycles of disobedience that led others further from truth.

And that’s the sobering reality:
What we choose doesn’t just shape us—it shapes those around us.

Ahaziah had a chance to choose differently… but he didn’t.

And today, we are faced with that same decision.

We may have inherited patterns…
Habits… attitudes… ways of thinking that don’t align with God’s Word.
But inheritance is not destiny.

You are not bound to repeat what was handed down.
You are called to rise above it.

Today is your opportunity to break the cycle.
To choose obedience over convenience.
Truth over tradition.
God’s way over the world’s way.

Because grace doesn’t just forgive—it empowers.
It gives you the strength to walk differently, live differently, and lead others differently.

Ask yourself:
What patterns in my life need to change?

And then take that first step—today.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, help me walk in Your ways, regardless of the voices around me. Give me courage to break every cycle that dishonors You. Shape my heart to reflect Your truth and light. Amen.

⚠️ Faith Is Not a Past Event — It’s a Present Commitment

Too many Christians today are living off yesterday’s decision while neglecting today’s devotion.

They gave their hearts to the Lord…
They belong to a church…
They attend when it’s convenient…
They give what they can spare…
They pray when they feel like it…
They open their Bible when they need something…

And somehow, we convince ourselves that this is enough.

But faith was never meant to be occasional—it was meant to be ongoing.

Christianity is not a box we check. It is a life we live.
It is daily surrender… daily obedience… daily pursuit of God.

Jesus never said, “Follow Me when it fits your schedule.”
He said, “Take up your cross daily and follow Me.”

There is a difference between knowing about God and walking with Him.
Between attending church and being the Church.
Between a moment of salvation and a life of transformation.

We are not called to be comfortable—we are called to be committed.
Not casual—but consecrated.
Not spectators—but disciples.

If your relationship with God has become routine, distant, or convenient… today is your wake-up call.

Return to your first love.
Renew your hunger for His Word.
Reignite your prayer life.
Recommit your time, your heart, your life.

Because eternity is not built on what we once did—but on who we are becoming in Him.

When the Well Runs Dry… Will We Answer the Cry?

There is a truth we don’t always like to face:
Few do what they can, when they can, where they can.

But somewhere today… a child is hungry.
A mother is praying.
A family is waiting—for help that may never come.

In the Philippines, entire communities are living through hardship most of us will never fully understand—typhoons, poverty, lack of medical care, and daily uncertainty.

And yet… you and I have the ability to change that.

Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International is on the ground—feeding the hungry, providing medical and dental care, supporting children, and sharing the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.

But we cannot do this alone.

This is where you come in.

If God has ever made a way for you…
If He has ever answered your prayer…
If you can say, “If it had not been for the Lord…”

Then you already understand why this matters.

👉 Give today: https://gofund.me/91e836e1e

Your gift—no matter the size—can:
• Feed a hungry child
• Provide life-saving care
• Support education
• Bring hope to entire communities

This is more than a donation…
This is someone’s answered prayer.

Let’s not wait until the well runs dry.

Do what you can… while you can… where you can.

Please help us help them.

When the Well Runs Dry… Will We Respond in Time?

There is a quiet truth that lingers beneath the surface of our everyday lives—one that we often avoid because of how deeply it convicts the heart:

Few do what they can, when they can, where they can.

It is not always because people don’t care. More often, it is because we believe there will be another opportunity. Another moment. Another chance to give, to serve, to act.

But life has a way of revealing what we took for granted.

There is an old saying passed down through generations:
“You will never miss the water until the well runs dry.”

And how true that is.

We do not fully appreciate provision until it is gone. We do not fully understand the value of hope until we encounter despair. We do not fully recognize the hand of God—until we are brought face-to-face with our own limitations.

Yet somewhere in the world today, there are people living at that point of realization.

In the Philippines, there are families who are not wondering about tomorrow’s success—they are praying for today’s survival. There are children who do not dream about what they want to be when they grow up, but instead hope for a meal, a clean drink of water, or the chance to simply feel seen and valued.

There are entire communities that have yet to hear a clear and life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And still—God has not forgotten them.

The question is… have we?

A Reflection That Brings Us All to the Same Place

If we are honest, every one of us can look back over our lives and say:

“If it had not been for the Lord… where would I be?”

Where would we be without His mercy?
Without His provision?
Without the doors He opened that we could not open ourselves?

There were moments when we needed help—and someone showed up.
Moments when we needed hope—and God sent it through a person, a word, or an unexpected blessing.

Now, we stand on the other side of that testimony.

And that changes everything.

The Mission Before Us

Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International is actively working in the Philippines—serving as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in places many will never go.

We are:

  • Feeding the hungry

  • Providing critical medical and dental care through mobile outreach

  • Reaching the lost with the Gospel

  • Investing in children through sponsorship and support

  • Building toward a permanent outreach center to serve communities long-term

This is not theory. This is not intention.
This is real, ongoing work that is changing lives—one soul at a time.

But the need is great. And the window to act is now.

The Urgency of Now

We cannot afford to be a people who wait until the well runs dry.

We cannot afford to delay obedience.

Because what we do today matters.

What we give today matters.

What we choose to do when we can, where we can, may be the very answer to someone else’s prayer.

Your Opportunity to Make a Difference

We are inviting you—not out of pressure, but out of purpose—to become part of this mission.

To stand with us.

To give.

To pray.

To act.

Because your gift—no matter the size—has eternal impact.

It can:

  • Put food in the hands of a hungry child

  • Bring healing to someone who has no access to care

  • Help carry the Gospel into places where it has never been heard

  • Build something lasting that will continue long after today

This is more than generosity.

This is legacy.

Final Thought

One day, we will all look back and reflect—not just on what we believed, but on what we did.

May we not be counted among those who could have… but did not.

May we be those who chose to act.

Who gave when we could.

Who stood in the gap.

Who refused to wait until the well ran dry.
