🙏 Have We Lost Our Reverence for God? 🙏

Reverence is more than routine. It is more than words spoken in prayer or songs sung from memory. Reverence is the posture of the heart before a holy God. And it’s a question worth asking in our time: Have we become so familiar with God that we’ve forgotten who He is?

Scripture reminds us that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Yet today, awe is often replaced with casualness, and obedience is traded for convenience. We approach God expecting comfort, but hesitate when He calls for surrender. We want His blessings, but resist His authority.

God has not changed. He is still holy. Still righteous. Still worthy of honor, obedience, and humility. What may have shifted is our awareness—our willingness to pause, bow, listen, and respond with obedience rather than explanation.

True reverence does not push God away; it draws us closer. It doesn’t produce fear—it produces worship. When reverence returns, repentance follows. When reverence returns, obedience becomes natural. When reverence returns, lives are transformed.

May we rediscover what it means to stand before God with awe—not because He is distant, but because He is holy.

📖 Sermon of the Week
Pilgrim Outreach Ministries Presents
Pastor James Langston — “There Is a Way Back”

🎥 Watch here: https://youtu.be/Ga8LC0KoRH8

Sermon Basis: Ruth 1:11–16

In Ruth 1:11–16, we encounter a defining crossroads. Naomi, broken by loss and hardship, urges her daughters-in-law to turn back—to choose the easier, more familiar path. Orpah weeps and returns, a choice rooted in reason and self-preservation. But Ruth does something radically different. She refuses to let go.

Ruth’s words are not poetic sentiment—they are covenant. “Where you go, I will go… your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” In that moment, Ruth chooses faith over fear, commitment over convenience, and loyalty over logic. Though the road ahead is uncertain, she understands a powerful truth: going back to God’s purpose sometimes means leaving what once felt safe.

This sermon reminds us that no matter how far we’ve wandered, how much we’ve lost, or how heavy the journey feels—there is a way back. Not just back to a place, but back to God’s will, God’s people, and God’s promises.

If you are standing at a crossroads today, this message is for you.

Is It Wrong to Ask God “Why?”

Many believers carry this question quietly in their hearts. When life turns unexpectedly painful, confusing, or overwhelming, “Why, God?” often rises before any other prayer. And no—asking God why is not wrong.

Throughout Scripture, faithful men and women asked God hard questions. David cried out in the Psalms. Job questioned deeply in his suffering. Even Jesus, in His humanity, voiced anguish from the cross. These moments were not acts of rebellion—they were expressions of relationship.

God is not threatened by honest questions. He is not offended by sincere wrestling. What matters is where the question is directed. Asking why in faith keeps the conversation open. Asking why while remaining before God keeps the heart anchored, even when answers do not come immediately.

Sometimes God explains. Sometimes He comforts. Sometimes He remains silent—but never absent. Faith is not the absence of questions; it is the decision to trust God with them.

If you are asking why today, don’t run from God—run to Him. He can handle your questions, your tears, and your waiting.

💭 Thought for Today — January 29, 2026 💭

Some days don’t begin with answers—they begin with questions. And that’s okay. Faith isn’t proven by how much we know, but by where we choose to place our trust when clarity is missing. God does not require you to see the whole road—only to take the next step with Him.

If today feels uncertain, let this truth steady your heart: God is already present in what you’re worried about. His faithfulness does not wait for perfect conditions. It meets you right where you are and carries you forward.

Walk gently today. Pray honestly. Trust deeply. God is at work—even when it’s quiet.

🌍 When Silence Costs a Soul: Why Compassion Cannot Wait

Another soul slips quietly into eternity—without ever hearing the name of Jesus Christ.

A child cries from hunger, and no one answers.
A mother longs for her children to hear about Jesus, but there is no one to tell them.
A gifted child grows up surrounded by poverty, never given the chance to learn—because education costs money they do not have.
A child dies from a treatable disease, simply because the family could not afford basic vaccinations.

It sounds like life in the 1500s.

But this is not history.
This is today—happening every single day outside the borders of the United States.

Here’s the hard truth: change is possible.

I don’t smoke—but the average cost of a carton of cigarettes today runs anywhere from $60 to $120. Imagine if even a portion of that amount was redirected toward feeding a hungry child, educating a young mind, providing medical care, or opening the door for a family to hear about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

I’ve seen it firsthand—written across the faces of parents who weep, not from despair, but from relief and joy. Tears fall because someone, somewhere, finally cared. And in that moment, hearts open. Doors open. And the gospel finds fertile ground.

This is why we do what we do.

Please pray for us.
Please join your faith with ours.
And please prayerfully consider giving—to help one more family, one more child, one more soul hear about Jesus Christ.
