📌 Are We Living in the Last Days?

Every generation has asked the sobering question: “Are we living in the last days?” But never before has the world been so connected, so informed, and so overwhelmed by an onslaught of global crises that shake us to our core. Wars and rumors of wars dominate the headlines. Natural disasters multiply in both frequency and intensity. Crime has reached unimaginable proportions. Many people no longer flinch at the shocking reports we see daily — humanity is becoming desensitized.

And yet, when we open the pages of Scripture, we find that none of this should surprise us. Jesus Himself warned that in the last days there would be “famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places” (Matthew 24:7). Paul told Timothy that perilous times would come (2 Timothy 3:1). And Peter declared that judgment begins in the house of God (1 Peter 4:17).

Prophecy Unfolding Before Our Eyes

The Book of Revelation is no longer an abstract, mysterious vision tucked away in the last chapter of the Bible. Its warnings and promises are manifesting in our world. The rise of lawlessness, global unrest, and a turning away from God all echo its pages.

But we must remember: though we see the shadows lengthening, the Tribulation itself has not yet begun. The seven-year period of unparalleled judgment is still to come. However, its approach is unmistakable, like dark storm clouds gathering before a mighty tempest.

And if the Bible says it will come — it will. No pundit, skeptic, or naysayer can alter the decrees of God.

What Should Christians Do?

This is the crucial question: in the face of these signs, how should God’s people live? Mark 16:15 gives us the answer, and it is not complicated:
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Now is not the time to cower in fear. Now is not the time to argue about secondary matters or retreat into silence. These are the “calm before the storm” days, and we must redeem the time. Like Noah building the ark before the flood, we are called to warn, to prepare, and to point people to salvation in Christ.

Not a Message of Fear, But of Victory

This post is not written to spread despair. Quite the opposite. If you belong to Christ, you have every reason to walk in confidence. Romans 8:37 reminds us: “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

The enemy may rage, and the world may tremble, but the Church of Jesus Christ remains anchored in unshakable hope. The Lord has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). His coming is not our terror, but our triumph.

So, remain steadfast. Remain unmovable. Hold tightly to your faith, Child of God. Your best days are not behind you — they are before you in Christ. For when the clouds split and the trumpet sounds, we will see our Redeemer face to face. And on that day, every trial will seem light compared to the glory revealed.

Until then, lift your voice, lift your eyes, and lift your heart. Time is short. The fields are white for harvest. The world is asking questions — and we have the Answer. His name is Jesus.

🙏 Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We come before You in a world trembling with uncertainty, yet we know You hold all things in Your hand. Lord, open our eyes to see the times we are living in. Help us to be watchful, steadfast, and faithful as Your Word unfolds before us.

For those who are weary, strengthen their hearts. For those who are fearful, fill them with Your peace. For those who are uncertain, reveal Yourself as Savior and Lord.

Jesus, we confess that You are our only Hope, our Redeemer, and our soon-coming King. Forgive us of our sins, wash us clean by Your blood, and empower us to walk boldly in the victory You have already secured.

Use us, Lord, in these last days to be lights in the darkness and voices of truth in a world of confusion. May we proclaim Your gospel with urgency and love until that glorious day when we see You face to face.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray—Amen.

🙏 Do You Pray for Your Leaders?

Do you pray for your leaders—or only for those you agree with? This is a question every believer should wrestle with. In a world where politics divide households, communities, and even churches, prayer is often the last thing on our minds when it comes to leaders we don’t see eye-to-eye with. Yet God’s Word leaves no room for debate.

The apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2:1–4 (NIV):

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Paul’s instructions were not given in a time of political ease. He wrote these words while under Roman rule—when Christians were marginalized, misunderstood, and often persecuted. Yet his command was clear: pray for all who are in authority.

Why Pray for Leaders You Disagree With?

  1. Prayer is Obedience to God.
Our responsibility is not based on agreement but obedience. God commands us to pray for leaders because He knows their decisions shape nations and lives.

  2. Prayer Affects Hearts.
While we cannot change a leader’s heart, the Lord can. When we intercede, we invite God’s wisdom and conviction into their lives, trusting Him to do what we cannot.

  3. Prayer Guards Our Own Hearts.
Without prayer, bitterness and resentment grow. By praying, we remind ourselves that God is sovereign and still in control, no matter who sits in the highest office.

A Personal Reflection

As far back as I can remember, I’ve prayed for every U.S. President. Some I deeply respected, others I strongly disagreed with. Yet prayer was never optional—it was my duty as a citizen of heaven.

What if the struggles our nation has faced over the past 45 years are connected to the Church’s failure to consistently pray for its leaders? What if wars, economic downturns, cultural decay, and division are not only political problems, but also spiritual consequences of prayerlessness?

Praying for leaders does not mean you agree with everything they say or do. It does not erase accountability or excuse sin. Instead, it means you’re asking the Lord to:

  • Touch their hearts.

  • Guide their decisions.

  • Draw them to salvation.

The Higher Call

When we stand in prayer for those in authority, we’re not endorsing an agenda—we’re advancing God’s Kingdom. Our mission is not political but spiritual: to see souls saved, truth proclaimed, and righteousness exalted in the land.

Let us not forget: nations rise and fall, but God’s Kingdom stands forever. Leaders come and go, but the prayers of God’s people live on, shaping history in ways unseen.

A Prayer for Today

Father, in the Name of Jesus, we lift up every leader in authority over us—from the President to local officials. Give them wisdom beyond their own, courage to do what is right, and humility to seek Your face. Where their hearts are hard, soften them. Where they are blind, open their eyes. Where they are far from You, draw them near. And Lord, guard our hearts from hatred and pride, that we may reflect Your love while standing firm on Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

📖 Thought to Carry With You:
Praying for leaders is not about politics—it’s about obedience, intercession, and hope. When God’s people pray, nations can be healed.

🌿 Hope for the Philippines: Build • Heal • Educate • Revive

The need in the Philippines is great, but so is the opportunity. Pilgrim Outreach Ministries is launching “Hope for the Philippines,” a GoFundMe campaign designed to build, heal, educate, and revive communities struck by poverty, disasters, and lack of resources.

🏗️ What We’re Doing

  • Build: Repairing homes, community centers, and safe spaces for children.

  • Heal: Providing basic medical care, psychosocial counseling, and restoring dignity to those suffering.

  • Educate: Delivering school supplies, re-establishing classes, training teachers, and ensuring children have access to learning.

  • Revive: Spiritual renewal through Gospel outreach, discipleship, and restoring hope in hearts & communities.

💡 Why This Matters

Disasters, poverty, and disrupted education have left too many children without a future. But every gift toward this campaign becomes a lifeline — putting food on the table, bringing a Bible into a family’s hands, turning despair into hope.

With your help, we can not only meet immediate physical needs, but also sow seeds of long-term transformation and revival.

Title: “The Hidden Cost of ‘Saving Time’: A 50-Year Decline in Reading — Secular and Sacred”

A 50-Year Reading Decline: What the Data Reveal

Over the past several decades, reading rates—both for secular books and the Bible—have declined steadily. This isn’t just nostalgia; empirical studies paint a stark reality.

  • A landmark study from the University of Florida and University College London shows a 40% drop in Americans reading daily for pleasure between 2003 and 2023, averaging a 3% decline per year Wikipedia+15The Guardian+15The Washington Post+15.

  • In 2004, 28% of Americans read for pleasure daily; by 2023, that number had fallen to 16% The Guardian.

  • Complementing this, Gallup’s data shows the average number of books read per year dropped from around 15.6 in 2016 to 12.6 in 2021. The percentage reading more than 10 books fell from 35% to 27% Sparx Services+5Gallup.com+5Medium+5.

  • Moreover, the National Endowment for the Arts reported that only 48.5% of adults read at least one book in the past year, down from 54.6% ten years earlier National Endowment for the Arts+2Master Mind Behavior+2.

Bible Reading Trends (Barna Research):

Why “Saving Time” is Stealing Reading Time

Several overlapping factors are often blamed for the decline in reading, but a central culprit remains: the drive to “save time” or streamline our attention:

Thus, the well-intentioned desire to “save time” paradoxically results in less time spent engaging with deep, enriching texts—whether secular literature or scripture.

Why Reading Still Matters — Scriptural Anchors

Hosea 4:6“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”
When we neglect reading and engaging with scripture or thoughtful books, we starve our understanding and spiritual resilience.

2 Timothy 2:15“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.”
Studying, researching, and evaluating teachings—whether in classrooms, study groups, or individually—is a calling to integrity, not convenience.

Matthew 24:26‑28“So if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’… Do not believe it…”
Discernment depends on deep familiarity with the Word. Only through careful reading can we distinguish truth from deception.

The excuse of “saving time” may feel efficient—but it is quietly eroding our reading habits. See the data.

[Secular Reading Trends]

[Bible Reading Decline]

  • Weekly Bible reading dropped from 45% in 1991 to ~33% today Barna Group.

  • In 2021, just 16% read the Bible most days; 34% read weekly but half read less than twice yearly Barna Group.

  • “No time” is a leading reason for skipping scripture reading Institute For Bible Reading.

[Main Underlying Cause: “Saving Time”]

[Scriptural Emphasis on Reading]

  • Hosea 4:6 – Ignorance brings destruction.

  • 2 Timothy 2:15 – Diligence in studying must not yield to convenience.

  • Matthew 24:26–28 – Falsehoods are exposed through discerned reading.

[Conclusion & Call to Action]
Encourage intentional, disciplined reading—perhaps setting aside even small daily time—but consistent. Share why it matters and use the provided scriptures to anchor readers back to roots of wisdom.

🎉 A Birthday, A Ministry, A Mission: 67 Years of Life & 28 Years of Service 🎉

This Sunday, August 17, I’ll be celebrating my 67th birthday—a milestone that fills my heart with gratitude to God. 🎂 But this celebration is more than candles on a cake; it represents a life poured out in service to Christ and to others.

For 28 years of ministry, the Lord has given me the privilege of preaching, teaching, encouraging, and serving people across nations. For 21 years, my family and I ministered in Italy, where we saw God’s hand at work in ways that humbled us daily. Today, our journey has brought us to the Philippines, where we continue to serve as missionaries—bringing the light of Christ to communities that desperately need hope. 🌍

As I look back, I see God’s faithfulness in every step of the way. And as I look forward, I see opportunities—big opportunities—for impact, outreach, and transformation.

🌟 Why This Birthday Is Different

This year, instead of asking for gifts or personal celebrations, I’m asking for something far greater:

👉 Support our GoFundMe campaign: https://t.co/nuxLMx8dMS

Your support will help us:

  • ✝️ Share the Gospel with more people who may never have heard it

  • 🍞 Provide hope and help to families in need

  • 🌱 Plant seeds that will grow into strong communities of faith

  • 🙏 Equip future leaders for the Kingdom of God

Every dollar given becomes a tool in God’s hands—helping us reach people we may never meet, but who are precious in His sight.

💬 A Personal Invitation

Friends, I’m trusting God for the rest. If He has blessed you through my ministry in some way, or if you simply want to be part of the ongoing story of lives changed by Christ, I humbly invite you to celebrate this milestone with me by giving, praying, and sharing.

Let’s make this birthday not just about one man’s life, but about a mission to touch lives for eternity.

🙌 Closing Thoughts

At 67, I feel both grateful for the years behind me and excited for the road ahead. Thank you for standing with us, whether through prayer, encouragement, or support. Together, we can continue to make a difference—one life, one family, one community at a time.

To God be the glory!
