When the Headlines Fade, Our Prayers Should Not

On February 28, 2026, at 1:15 a.m. ET, a joint U.S. and Israeli military operation known as Operation Epic Fury began, targeting Iranian security, command, and military infrastructure.

For days, the eyes of the world were fixed on the unfolding events. News feeds were constant. Commentary was everywhere. Concern, debate, and speculation filled the air.

But now, only a week later, much of that attention has faded.

What has not faded is the danger faced by the brave men and women serving in uniform every hour.

Tragically, the United States has already suffered six casualties in this conflict. Our hearts grieve for their families, and we are reminded how quickly freedom can demand a price. Yet many understand that the number could have been far higher.

Many people disagree with this operation—and in a free nation, that is your right. But it is important to remember that you have that right because courageous men and women are willing to stand in harm’s way to defend it.

Speaking as a retired U.S. Navy veteran, I can tell you this: when we raised our right hand and took the oath, we understood that the day could come when we might be asked to give the ultimate sacrifice—our lives—for our country.

These service members are not headlines. They are sons, daughters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, and friends.

So even if the news cycle has moved on, let us not move on in our prayers.

Pray for the men and women serving in harm’s way.
Pray for their families waiting at home.
Pray for the nations of the United States and Israel.
And pray that wisdom and peace will ultimately prevail.
