Where Are You? — The Call to Personal Responsibility

“And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?” — Genesis 3:9

From the very beginning, God has dealt with individuals.

When Adam fell, God did not call a meeting. He did not summon a council, a board, or a crowd. He called one man and asked one question: Where are you?

That question still echoes today.

We live in a world where responsibility is often shifted, shared, or softened. We point to circumstances, blame influences, or justify decisions based on what others have done. And while people, situations, and pressures may influence us, they do not make our choices for us.

The final decision—obedience or disobedience—rests with each of us.

God speaks personally. He convicts individually. He calls by name, not by group.

And yet, how often do we wait for consensus before we act? How often do we look for approval before we obey? How often do we delay because others are not moving?

Mary settled this long ago with a simple, powerful instruction: “Whatever He says to you, do it.” (John 2:5)

Not what He says to others. Not what is popular. Not what is convenient.

What He says to you.

Because at the end of the day, we will not answer for committees, cultures, or crowds—we will answer for ourselves.

So the question is not just theological—it is deeply personal:

Where are you in your walk with God?
Where are you in your obedience?
Where are you in your response to His voice?

No one else can answer that for you.

And no one else can choose for you.

But you can choose… today.
