WELCOME TO THE PILGRIM OUTREACH MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL BLOG
More Than Something to Read—A Place to Think, Pray, Learn, and Grow
Perhaps you found us through a social media post.
Maybe someone shared one of our articles with you.
Perhaps a Google search brought you here.
Or maybe you've been traveling with us for quite some time.
However you arrived...
Welcome.
We are Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International, and this blog is one of the ways we carry out a calling that has guided this ministry across nations:
Your Feet to the Nations.
But before we tell you what you'll find here, perhaps we should tell you what this blog is not.
It isn't simply an online bulletin board.
It isn't a place where we post something because another day appeared on the calendar.
And it certainly isn't intended to be another voice shouting into an already very noisy world.
We want this to be a place where sometimes...
you stop.
Read.
Think.
Question.
Learn.
Pray.
And perhaps leave a little different from the way you arrived.
THERE IS A LOT HAPPENING IN OUR WORLD
Wars.
Natural disasters.
Political division.
Economic uncertainty.
Families struggling to make ends meet.
Children growing up in an increasingly complicated culture.
Human trafficking.
Loneliness.
Grief.
Fear.
Technology changing faster than many of us can comprehend.
People asking spiritual questions they may be afraid to say aloud.
And somewhere today, someone is wondering:
“Does anybody care?”
We do.
More importantly...
God does.
That conviction shapes this blog.
We don't believe Christians are called to hide from the world.
Jesus said:
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15
Going into the world requires us to understand something about the people who live in it.
Their joys.
Their fears.
Their questions.
Their struggles.
Their needs.
And their hope.
YES, WE TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE
Unashamedly.
Scripture is foundational to Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International.
You'll find articles about:
Jesus Christ.
Prayer.
Salvation.
Faith.
Forgiveness.
Holiness.
Grace.
Repentance.
Christian living.
Spiritual growth.
The reliability and relevance of Scripture.
And what it means to actually walk with God Monday through Saturday, not merely attend church on Sunday.
Sometimes we'll examine a familiar Scripture and ask you to look at it again.
Sometimes we'll tackle questions Christians have wrestled with for generations.
And sometimes the message may be wonderfully simple:
God loves you.
Come home.
BUT WE ALSO TALK ABOUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE THE CHURCH DOORS
Faith doesn't stop being relevant when the benediction is pronounced.
So neither does this blog.
We discuss issues affecting ordinary people:
Government.
The economy and cost of living.
Healthcare.
Parenting.
Education.
Technology and artificial intelligence.
Social media.
Children and young people.
Natural disasters.
Human trafficking.
Community responsibility.
Moral and cultural questions.
International events.
And other subjects affecting our neighbors at home and abroad.
We will not always tell you what to think.
Sometimes we'd rather give you something to think about.
Because mature faith should not be afraid of difficult questions.
YOU'LL ALSO MEET REAL PEOPLE HERE
This matters.
Behind every statistic is somebody's son.
Somebody's daughter.
Somebody's mother.
Somebody's father.
Somebody's neighbor.
Somebody's child.
Our missionary work continually reminds us that human need is not theoretical.
A hungry child doesn't need a discussion about hunger.
A family whose home has been damaged doesn't need a definition of compassion.
A student who cannot afford basic necessities doesn't need another speech about opportunity.
Sometimes love needs hands.
Sometimes faith needs feet.
Sometimes prayer needs to be followed by:
“What can I do?”
That's why you'll also find reports and stories from our missionary outreaches, particularly our work in the Philippines and Asia.
You'll see needs.
You'll see opportunities.
You'll meet people.
You'll be invited to pray.
And occasionally we'll ask those who are able to help us help them.
Not because numbers matter more than people.
Precisely the opposite.
Because...
one matters.
THERE IS ROOM FOR THE WEARY HERE
Some people arrive at Christian websites feeling strong.
Others don't.
Some are rejoicing.
Some are grieving.
Some have tremendous faith.
Others are hanging onto theirs by a thread.
Some prayed this morning.
Others haven't sincerely prayed in years.
Some know exactly what they believe.
Others have questions.
You may come anyway.
One of the convictions behind our ministry—and especially behind our newest book, When Prayer Seems So Difficult—Pray Anyway—is that weary travelers should not be overdriven.
Sometimes people need instruction.
Sometimes correction.
Sometimes encouragement.
And sometimes...
they simply need someone willing to sit beside them awhile.
We want this blog to have room for all four.
YOU MAY EVEN LAUGH OCCASIONALLY
Christianity isn't supposed to remove your personality.
Smile.
There are serious matters discussed here because we live in a serious world.
But there is also joy.
Family.
Memories.
Stories.
Humor.
Lessons learned from decades of ministry, military service, marriage, missions, writing, raising children, becoming grandparents, making mistakes, getting back up, and discovering that God was faithful through all of it.
Sometimes the lesson comes from a theological discussion.
Sometimes it comes from an old ship at sea.
Sometimes from something Mama said decades ago.
And sometimes...
well...
Nellie wanders through.
Longtime readers understand.
New readers eventually will. 😄
THIS IS ALSO A MINISTRY OF BOOKS
Writing has become another extension of our missionary work.
Books allow a conversation to travel somewhere the author may never physically go.
A hospital room.
A prison.
A military barracks.
A pastor's study.
A college dormitory.
A missionary station.
A bedroom at two o'clock in the morning.
Or halfway around the world.
Our bookstore features books addressing faith, prayer, Christian living, social issues, history, human trafficking, national concerns, personal growth, and other subjects.
Our newest release is:
When Prayer Seems So Difficult—Pray Anyway
For the Weary Traveler Who Still Wants to Find the Way Home
Available in:
Paperback • Hardcover • Kindle eBook
Amazon:

Bookstore:
thewilltosucceed.homestead.com
And as with our other books, the objective isn't merely to put another title on somebody's shelf.
We want the conversation to matter.
WE DON'T EXPECT YOU TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING
There.
We said it.
You may occasionally read something here and think:
"James, I don't know about that one."
Fair enough.
Open your Bible.
Research.
Think.
Pray.
Ask questions.
Go beyond the headline.
Don't accept something merely because a pastor said it.
Don't accept it merely because an author wrote it.
Don't accept it merely because somebody with two million followers posted it.
Discern.
Truth doesn't become truth because it went viral.
And error doesn't become truth because everybody repeated it.
We want thoughtful readers.
SO WHO IS THIS BLOG FOR?
The believer.
The doubter.
The pastor.
The missionary.
The parent.
The grandparent.
The young adult.
The veteran.
The person asking difficult questions.
The person celebrating answered prayer.
The person still waiting.
The person interested in what is happening in America.
The person concerned about what is happening around the world.
The person looking for encouragement.
The person wanting to understand Scripture better.
The person who stumbled onto this page accidentally.
And perhaps...
the one weary traveler who almost didn't click.
Welcome.
DON'T JUST VISIT—TRAVEL WITH US
Bookmark the blog.
Come back.
Share an article.
Send something encouraging to a friend.
Join us in prayer.
Leave with something worth thinking about.
And when you encounter an article that reminds you of somebody...
send it to them.
You never know what may be happening on the other side of someone's smile.
One shared message may reach somebody at exactly the right moment.
That's how ministry travels.
One person.
One prayer.
One act of kindness.
One article.
One soul at a time.
WELCOME TO THE JOURNEY
We cannot promise every article will make you comfortable.
We don't think it should.
Some will encourage you.
Some may challenge you.
Some will make you think.
Some may send you directly to your Bible.
Some may make you laugh.
A few might make you cry.
And occasionally...
we hope you'll close the browser for a while because something you read made you want to talk with God.
If that happens?
The blog did its job.
Because Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International was never supposed to be the destination.
We're just another sign beside the road...
pointing toward Jesus Christ.
So pull up a chair.
Stay awhile.
There's room at the table.
And wherever in the world you're reading this from—
Welcome to the Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International Blog.
