🌏 A $1.9 MILLION VISION—AND A GOD WHO IS MORE THAN ABLE

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
Ephesians 3:20

One of the questions I am asked most often is:

“Pastor James, what will it actually cost to establish and expand Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International in the Philippines?”

It is a fair question.

And the answer begins long before we ever set foot in the Philippines.

On September 4, 2016, while spending time with the Lord, something was impressed deeply upon my heart that I have carried ever since.

This was five years after the Lord first began dealing with us about preaching the Gospel in the Philippines—and nine years before Cecilia and I would finally arrive on Philippine soil as missionaries.

The figure impressed upon my heart was extraordinarily specific:

$1,924,675.68

I did not have $1.9 million.

I did not know anyone preparing to give us $1.9 million.

I did not have a detailed roadmap explaining how such a vision could possibly become reality.

What I had was faith—and a number that would not leave me.

I remember quietly responding:

“Lord, You will have to do this, because there is absolutely no way I can.”

And perhaps that was exactly the point.

Some visions are small enough for us to accomplish ourselves.

Others are so large that if they ever become reality, there will be no question Who deserves the glory.

πŸ™ THE GOD WHO GIVES THE VISION ALREADY SEES THE FINISH

Over the years, I have learned something about walking with God:

When He gives direction, He does not always provide the entire blueprint on the first day.

He gives enough light for the next step.

Then another.

And another.

He asks us to trust Him, obey Him, pray, prepare, and keep walking.

Looking back, I have watched God open doors no human being could have opened.

I have watched Him provide resources we did not anticipate.

I have watched Him connect us with people at precisely the right moment.

I have watched things that once appeared distant gradually move within reach.

And today, we are ministering in the very nation He placed upon our hearts years ago.

The vision is no longer somewhere in the distance.

We are walking in it.

Now comes another phase.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ THIS IS NOT REALLY ABOUT BUILDINGS

When someone hears $1.9 million, the first thing he or she may envision is property, buildings, vehicles, and equipment.

Those things are certainly part of the plan.

But they are not the heart of it.

People are.

This vision is about reaching communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is about taking medical and dental care to people who may otherwise go without it.

It is about standing beside families after typhoons, earthquakes, floods, volcanic activity, fires, and other disasters.

It is about children.

Senior adults.

Prisoners.

Orphans.

Students.

Families.

Young people searching for direction.

Communities needing hope.

And most importantly—

souls needing Jesus Christ.

Buildings are tools.

Vehicles are tools.

Tents are tools.

Basketball courts are tools.

Medical equipment is a tool.

The mission is people.

And the ultimate objective is the Gospel.

πŸ“‹ THE PHILIPPINES VISION PLAN

The $1,924,675.68 represents our projected ministry investment for establishing and expanding the outreaches envisioned for Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International in the Philippines.

These are planning estimates and may change as actual property, construction, equipment, staffing, regulatory, transportation, and operational costs are determined.

But they show the scope of what we are praying and preparing to accomplish.

1. πŸ›️ International Headquarters & Church Campus — $575,000.00

A permanent ministry headquarters and worship campus designed to support the work of the ministry, including worship space, administrative offices, classrooms, meeting areas, storage, furnishings, technology, security, and supporting infrastructure.

This would become more than a building.

It would become a sending station for ministry.

2. ⛺ Revival Tent Ministry — $175,000.00

A professionally equipped approximately 500-seat revival tent ministry, including sound, lighting, staging, seating, generators, transportation equipment, and other necessities for evangelistic meetings and crusades.

The purpose is simple:

Take the Gospel where the people are.

3. πŸš‘ Mobile Medical & Dental Outreach — $325,000.00

Our vision includes two mobile medical clinics and two mobile dental clinics, utilizing appropriately converted vehicles to help bring healthcare services into underserved communities.

Imagine a family receiving needed medical attention—and at the same time encountering Christians who have come simply because Jesus taught us to care.

That is ministry to the whole person.

4. πŸ‘₯ Ministry Personnel Development — $275,000.00

Ministry requires people.

Doctors.

Dentists.

Nurses.

Technicians.

Construction personnel.

Cooks.

Drivers.

Security and maintenance workers.

Administrative personnel.

Pastoral and ministry workers.

This portion of the vision supports the development, preparation, training, and resourcing of the people necessary to sustain effective outreach.

5. πŸŽ„ Christmas in October Outreach — $65,000.00

Our desire is to bless families with food, gifts for children, Bibles for households, fellowship, prayer, and above all, the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Because sometimes a Christmas meal becomes a doorway into someone's heart.

6. ❤️ Orphanage, Senior Adult & Halfway House Ministry — $80,000.00

Some of the people most in need of love are those society has learned not to see.

We want to see them.

We want to visit.

Encourage.

Assist.

Pray.

Disciple.

And remind them:

You have not been forgotten.

7. πŸ”“ Prison Ministry — $50,000.00

Prison walls may restrict a person's movement.

They cannot restrict the Gospel.

Through Bible distribution, worship, discipleship, counseling, prayer, and continuing spiritual encouragement, we desire to take the message of redemption behind prison walls.

8. πŸ“– Street Evangelism Ministry — $65,000.00

Jesus did not wait inside a building for people to find Him.

Neither should we.

Through open-air ministry, personal evangelism, Christian literature, prayer, food assistance, and compassionate outreach, we intend to meet people where they are.

On the streets. In the neighborhoods. In the communities.

9. πŸ†˜ Disaster Relief & Mass-Casualty Response — $125,000.00

The Philippines regularly faces typhoons, earthquakes, flooding, volcanic activity, landslides, fires, and other emergencies.

When disaster strikes, people should not have to wonder whether the Church cares.

We want to be prepared to respond with practical supplies, emergency assistance, compassionate care, prayer, and the hope found in Jesus Christ.

10. πŸ› Community Playground Initiative — $55,000.00

Children need safe places to be children.

Through restoring and constructing community playgrounds, we hope to create places where children can play safely, families can gather, relationships can develop, and ministry can happen naturally.

11. πŸ’ͺ Physical Fitness & Wellness Center — $75,000.00

A community fitness and wellness facility can become far more than a place to exercise.

It can become a place for mentoring, healthy living, discipleship, fellowship, relationship-building, and community outreach.

12. πŸ€ Community Basketball Court Initiative — $59,675.68

Basketball is woven deeply into Filipino community life.

By constructing new courts and helping restore existing ones, we hope to create positive environments for young people, develop relationships, encourage teamwork and discipline, and open natural doors for sharing the Gospel.

πŸ”₯ $1,924,675.68—BUT NEVER FORGET THE “ONE”

It is easy to become overwhelmed by a seven-digit number.

So I remind myself of something.

We do not have to reach everybody today.

We can reach one.

One child.

One student.

One prisoner.

One patient.

One struggling family.

One forgotten senior.

One village.

One person who has never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel.

And after that one?

Reach one more.

That is how enormous visions eventually become testimonies.

One prayer.

One gift.

One volunteer.

One open door.

One act of obedience.

One soul at a time.

🌱 A VISION STILL UNFOLDING

What you have just read is not an exhaustive description of everything Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International may someday undertake.

It is a blueprint.

A direction.

A vision still unfolding through prayer, preparation, faith, and obedience.

Will everything happen overnight?

No.

We are prepared to build patiently.

But imagine what each completed piece represents.

Every church service conducted.

Every Bible placed into someone's hands.

Every hungry child fed.

Every patient treated.

Every prisoner encouraged.

Every disaster victim helped.

Every young person redirected toward something better.

Every family prayed with.

Every person introduced to Jesus Christ.

Then that enormous number begins to look different.

Because this was never really about $1,924,675.68.

It was always about people.

It was always about obedience.

And it was always about Jesus.

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15

🀝 PERHAPS YOUR PART IS SOMEWHERE IN THIS VISION

We cannot accomplish this alone.

Nor do we believe we were meant to.

Some will pray.

Some will give.

Some will share the vision.

Some will volunteer.

Some may provide professional expertise.

Some may introduce us to someone who can help accomplish a particular part of the mission.

And some may simply encourage us to keep going.

Every faithful part matters.

As Scripture reminds us:

“For we are labourers together with God...”
1 Corinthians 3:9

So we will continue praying.

We will continue preparing.

We will continue going.

We will continue believing.

And we will continue asking God to do what I told Him back in 2016 that only He could do.

Lord, You will have to do this.

Nearly ten years later, I still believe He can.

After all:

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think...”
— Ephesians 3:20

$1,924,675.68 is a very large number to us.

It is not a very large number to God.

Help us help them...

one soul at a time.
