⏰ YOU HAVE TODAY—BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH IT?

Part 2 of 4 | Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow: The Choices That Shape Eternity

Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV)

"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

WHAT IF TODAY IS THE OPPORTUNITY YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR?

Somewhere this morning, someone woke up complaining about having to go to work.

Someone else complained about the weather.

Someone complained about the price of groceries, the traffic, or the demands of another busy day.

Meanwhile, someone in a hospital bed was praying for the opportunity to get up and walk outside.

Someone recovering from a serious illness was thanking God for another sunrise.

And someone grieving the loss of a loved one would give almost anything for one more ordinary day together.

Isn't it remarkable how differently we value the same twenty-four hours?

We often treat today as though it is merely a waiting room for tomorrow.

We say:

"I'll start next week."

"I'll apologize when things settle down."

"I'll spend more time with my family when I'm less busy."

"I'll get serious about God when I'm older."

But what if today is the very opportunity you've been praying for?

LIFE IS HAPPENING WHILE YOU'RE MAKING OTHER PLANS

Think about how quickly the years pass.

One day you're walking into your first classroom.

Before you know it, you're graduating.

Then you're working, raising children, paying bills, and wondering where the time went.

Eventually, those children become adults.

The house becomes quieter.

The people who once seemed as though they would always be there begin to disappear from your life.

And suddenly you realize something.

Life wasn't waiting for you to get ready. It was happening all along.

Psalm 90:12 says:

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."

That verse isn't intended to make us fearful of living.

It's intended to help us live wisely.

YOU HAVE MORE INFLUENCE OVER TODAY THAN YOU REALIZE

You may not be able to control the economy.

You may not be able to change another person's attitude.

You may not be able to prevent every disappointment.

But there are choices you can make today.

You can choose honesty over deception.

Forgiveness over bitterness.

Compassion over indifference.

Gratitude over constant complaining.

You can call someone who needs encouragement.

You can spend meaningful time with your children.

You can help someone who cannot repay you.

You can open your Bible.

You can pray.

And if you have never surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, you can respond to His invitation today.

Your circumstances may not change immediately, but the direction of your life can begin changing with one decision.

DON'T CONFUSE BEING BUSY WITH LIVING PURPOSEFULLY

Some people are constantly moving but never seem to arrive anywhere meaningful.

Their schedules are full.

Their phones never stop ringing.

Their calendars are crowded.

Yet they have little time for their families, their spiritual lives, or the people who need them.

Jesus asked a sobering question in Mark 8:36:

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

What good is success if everything that truly matters has been neglected?

What good is a beautiful house if there is no peace inside it?

What good is a prestigious title if your relationships are falling apart?

And what good is an impressive earthly life if you've never considered eternity?

BEFORE THIS DAY ENDS

Take a few minutes to examine your priorities.

Have you told the people you love that you love them?

Have you made peace with someone when reconciliation is possible?

Have you thanked God for the blessings you sometimes overlook?

Have you considered where you stand with Jesus Christ?

Today is not merely another date on the calendar. It is an opportunity entrusted to you.

Don't waste it wishing you could relive yesterday.

Don't surrender it worrying endlessly about tomorrow.

Live it with faith, purpose, and gratitude.

🙏 TODAY'S PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of another day. Help me recognize the opportunities before me and use my time wisely. Teach me to love sincerely, forgive freely, serve faithfully, and put You first. May this day count for something greater than myself. Amen.

Reflection: If you could accomplish just one truly meaningful thing today, what would it be?

Share your answer. Someone else may need the encouragement to begin.
