🇵🇭✈️ WE SAID YES TO GOD—AND NOW THE JOURNEY BEGINS!

🔥 WE DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING TOMORROW HOLDS. BUT WE KNOW WHERE OUR HELP COMES FROM!

"My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth." — Psalm 121:2 (KJV)

At 6:45 p.m. Eastern Time, on October 31, my wife, Cecilia, and I began our return journey to the Philippines.

Not simply another international trip.

Not a vacation.

Not an opportunity to see familiar places and visit old friends.

WE ARE RETURNING BECAUSE WE BELIEVE GOD HAS CALLED US TO GO!

And we go with anticipation.

Anticipation of what the Lord is doing today.

Anticipation of what He will accomplish tomorrow.

And anticipation of what may continue bearing fruit long after our earthly journey has ended.

We do not know every detail of what awaits us.

We do not have every answer.

We do not possess all the resources necessary to accomplish the vision God has placed upon our hearts.

But we have something that matters far more than our ability to predict the future.

WE HAVE FAITH IN THE GOD WHO HOLDS THE FUTURE!

And with that faith, we have said something that every believer must eventually be willing to say when the Lord makes His direction clear:

"YES, LORD. YOUR WILL, NOT MINE!"

❓ "BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS IS GOD'S WILL?"

Over the years, people have asked me some very legitimate questions.

"Pastor James, how do you know this is what God wants you to do?"

"How can you be certain this is His will?"

"And what if you're wrong?"

Those are fair questions.

In fact, I believe they are questions every sincere Christian should be willing to consider when making important decisions.

We should never confuse personal enthusiasm with divine direction.

We should never assume that because something sounds good, feels right, or involves ministry, it must automatically be God's will.

And we should never become so convinced of our own understanding that we refuse to examine our motives, seek godly counsel, or compare what we believe with the written Word of God.

The Apostle Paul instructed believers:

"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." — 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV)

And Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

So how do we approach such an important question?

For me, the answer begins with Scripture, prayer, obedience, a willingness to be corrected, and a burden that has remained upon my heart through the years.

I CANNOT ASK YOU TO HAVE FAITH IN MY CALLING. BUT I CAN TELL YOU WHY I HAVE CHOSEN TO OBEY WHAT I BELIEVE GOD HAS CALLED ME TO DO!

⚔️ OPPOSITION DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN YOU ARE OUTSIDE GOD'S WILL!

Allow me a little leeway here.

I believe that when Christians genuinely seek to obey God, they should not be surprised when spiritual opposition arises.

Scripture warns us that we have an adversary.

First Peter 5:8 tells us to be sober and vigilant because the devil seeks whom he may devour.

And Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our spiritual struggle extends beyond what we can see with our natural eyes.

BUT HERE IS SOMETHING IMPORTANT: OPPOSITION ALONE IS NOT PROOF THAT WE ARE DOING GOD'S WILL!

Sometimes we face resistance because we are doing the right thing.

Sometimes we face resistance because we have made poor decisions.

Sometimes difficulties arise simply because we live in a fallen world.

And sometimes a closed door is an opportunity to reconsider our direction.

That is why we must be careful.

Not every obstacle is an attack from the enemy.

Not every difficulty is a divine warning.

And not every open door is necessarily an invitation from God.

WE MUST TEST OUR DIRECTION BY GOD'S WORD, SEEK HIS WISDOM, AND REMAIN HUMBLE ENOUGH TO LISTEN!

But there is another question I believe deserves our attention.

❤️ DO YOU LOVE WHAT GOD HAS PLACED UPON YOUR HEART?

I am not talking about loving recognition.

I am not talking about enjoying the title of pastor, missionary, evangelist, or ministry leader.

I am not talking about the excitement of traveling to another country.

I am talking about something much deeper.

DO YOU LOVE THE PEOPLE GOD IS CALLING YOU TO SERVE?

Do their struggles matter to you?

Do their tears move your heart?

Do their needs remain on your mind when everyone else has gone home?

Can you walk away from their suffering without being concerned?

Or is there something within you that continues saying:

"LORD, SOMEBODY HAS TO HELP THEM!"

The Apostle Paul wrote:

"For the love of Christ constraineth us." — 2 Corinthians 5:14 (KJV)

That is the kind of motivation I am talking about.

Not guilt.

Not pressure.

Not the desire to impress people.

THE LOVE OF CHRIST COMPELLING US TO CARE ABOUT PEOPLE WE COULD EASILY IGNORE!

And that brings me to something very personal.

🌙 WHEN THE BURDEN WAKES YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

There are times when a burden becomes so deeply rooted in your heart that it follows you into your quietest moments.

You may be lying in bed, but your thoughts are thousands of miles away.

You see the faces.

You remember the conversations.

You think about the families.

You remember the children.

And before long, you find yourself praying:

"LORD, IF YOU DON'T DO THIS THROUGH ME, I CAN'T DO IT!"

That has been my cry.

Not because I believe I possess extraordinary abilities.

Not because I have all the answers.

And certainly not because I believe the success of God's work depends entirely upon me.

It doesn't.

But I cannot ignore the responsibility I believe He has placed before me.

Sometimes I find myself praying:

"Lord, there are people who need to hear the Gospel. There are families who need encouragement. There are children growing up in circumstances they did not choose. There are people who have prayed for help for years.

"If You have called me to reach them, please make a way.

"Give me the wisdom.

"Provide what is needed.

"Open the right doors.

"Surround us with the right people.

"And above all, let Your will be accomplished."

THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHAT JAMES LANGSTON CAN ACCOMPLISH. IT IS ABOUT WHAT GOD CAN DO THROUGH A LIFE SURRENDERED TO HIM!

🇵🇭 MY HEART IS FOR THE FORGOTTEN ONES!

If you want to understand why we are returning to the Philippines, begin here.

MY HEART IS FOR THE FORGOTTEN ONES!

The people whose names will never appear in a newspaper.

The families who will never be interviewed on television.

The children who will never know what it means to have everything they need.

The elderly who have spent their lives working, sacrificing, and surviving.

The mothers and fathers who wonder how they will provide another meal.

The people who have struggled for years simply to survive.

The ones whose suffering is often overlooked because they live far from the places where decisions are made and resources are distributed.

And the ones who have cried out again and again:

"LORD, PLEASE HELP US!"

These are not statistics to me.

They are people.

People with names.

People with families.

People with hopes and dreams.

People with fears and disappointments.

And, most importantly, people whom God loves!

Jesus said:

"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." — Matthew 25:40 (KJV)

I cannot read those words without examining my own responsibility.

What does it mean to love our neighbors?

What does it mean to have compassion?

What does it mean to preach the Gospel while turning away from someone whose immediate suffering we have the opportunity to relieve?

We cannot solve every problem in the Philippines.

We cannot reach every village.

We cannot help every family.

But neither should we allow the size of the need to become an excuse for doing nothing.

WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO HELP EVERYONE—BUT WITH GOD'S HELP, WE CAN HELP SOMEONE!

And that someone matters.

✝️ WHAT IF SOMEONE NEVER HEARS ABOUT JESUS?

There is another part of this burden that weighs heavily upon my heart.

The eternal spiritual needs of people.

Jesus commanded His followers:

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations..." — Matthew 28:19 (KJV)

And Romans 10:14 asks:

"And how shall they hear without a preacher?"

These Scriptures remind me that the Gospel is not something Christians are supposed to keep to themselves.

It is good news meant to be shared.

I believe deeply in the importance of telling people about Jesus Christ.

I believe in teaching the Scriptures.

I believe in prayer.

I believe in discipleship.

And I believe that when we have the opportunity to demonstrate God's love through practical acts of compassion, we should do so.

A MEAL MAY HELP SOMEONE THROUGH TODAY. THE GOSPEL OFFERS THE MESSAGE OF ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!

Both matter.

We want to feed hungry people without neglecting their spiritual needs.

We want to encourage struggling families without overlooking their dignity.

We want to share the Gospel without treating people as projects or numbers.

We want them to know that they matter to God.

And that is why the thought of people going through life without hearing the message of salvation continues to stir my heart.

SOMEONE MUST GO. SOMEONE MUST TELL THEM. SOMEONE MUST CARE!

⛰️ GOD DID NOT ASK US TO CLIMB THE ENTIRE MOUNTAIN TODAY!

Earlier, I shared something that I believe the Lord impressed upon my heart through Hebrews 11:1:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

The thought was simple, but powerful:

"THE FIRST STEP IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THE SUCCEEDING STEPS ARE GOD'S RESPONSIBILITY ALONE!"

The what.

The when.

The where.

The how.

And even the why.

Those are matters I must ultimately entrust to Him.

That does not excuse me from planning, working, preparing, or making responsible decisions.

But it reminds me that I cannot control everything.

And I certainly cannot accomplish God's purposes through human strength alone.

Sometimes we become so overwhelmed by the size of the mountain that we never take the first step.

We try to calculate every cost.

We try to anticipate every obstacle.

We try to answer every question.

And eventually, we become exhausted under the weight of things we were never meant to control.

FAITH DOES NOT REQUIRE ME TO KNOW THE ENTIRE JOURNEY BEFORE I OBEY GOD'S DIRECTION!

Today, we have taken another step.

We have begun our return journey to the Philippines.

And we are trusting the Lord for the steps that follow.

🙏 "BUT PASTOR JAMES, WHAT IF YOU'RE WRONG?"

Let me answer that question as sincerely as I know how.

I AM HUMAN. I AM NOT INFALLIBLE.

I can misunderstand circumstances.

I can make mistakes.

I can misjudge timing.

And like every other Christian, I must remain willing to examine my decisions in the light of God's Word.

But after years of prayer, reflection, experience, and seeking to follow the Lord, I remain convinced that serving people through missionary outreach in the Philippines is part of the work He has placed upon my heart.

I do not claim to know every outcome.

I do not claim that every plan we make will succeed.

And I do not claim that every difficulty will disappear simply because we believe we are following God's will.

But I do believe this:

IT IS BETTER TO WALK HUMBLY IN THE DIRECTION YOU BELIEVE GOD HAS SHOWN YOU, WHILE REMAINING OPEN TO HIS CORRECTION, THAN TO ALLOW FEAR TO KEEP YOU FROM EVERY ACT OF OBEDIENCE!

Micah 6:8 reminds us to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.

That is how I want to approach this journey.

With faith.

With humility.

With compassion.

With accountability.

And with a willingness to let God direct our steps.

🌎 THIS MISSION IS BIGGER THAN TWO PEOPLE!

My wife and I may be the ones boarding the airplane.

But Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International is not intended to be a two-person effort.

It is a ministry vision that invites others to participate through prayer, encouragement, service, generosity, and partnership.

Not everyone can travel to the Philippines.

Not everyone can give financially.

Not everyone can volunteer on the mission field.

But every believer can ask the Lord how they might faithfully participate in the work of sharing His love.

And everyone can pray!

Our ministry's vision includes reaching families, strengthening communities, sharing the Gospel, supporting children, and developing opportunities for practical assistance.

As Christmas approaches, we are also believing God for the opportunity to reach 500 families through our Christmas 2026 outreach.

We want to provide food, gifts, Bibles, encouragement, and opportunities to hear the message of Jesus Christ.

That is a significant undertaking.

And we know we cannot accomplish it by ourselves.

BUT WE ARE NOT PLACING OUR FAITH IN OUR OWN ABILITY TO ACCOMPLISH IT!

We are trusting the Lord to guide our efforts and provide opportunities through people whose hearts are moved to help.

Every prayer matters.

Every act of kindness matters.

Every willing partner matters.

And every person reached matters.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT BUILDING A NAME FOR OURSELVES. IT IS ABOUT MAKING THE NAME OF JESUS KNOWN!

📖 "MY HELP COMETH FROM THE LORD!"

There is a passage of Scripture that beautifully expresses what is in my heart as we begin this journey.

Psalm 121:1–2:

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth." (KJV)

David's words, as they are often affectionately associated with the Psalms, express the confidence I want to carry throughout this journey.

My help does not ultimately come from my experience.

It does not come from my education.

It does not come from my military background.

It does not come from my financial resources.

It does not come from the number of people who read our blog or follow our ministry.

Those things may have their place.

But they are not the foundation of my faith.

MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD!

The One who made heaven and earth.

The One who sees the needs we cannot see.

The One who knows the people we have not yet met.

The One who understands the challenges waiting beyond the next turn.

And the One whose wisdom exceeds anything we could ever imagine.

WE CAN'T DO THIS BY OURSELVES. BUT GOD IS ABLE!

That is where our confidence rests.

❤️ TO EVERYONE WHO HAS WALKED WITH US THIS FAR

Before closing, I want to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us.

Thank you to those who have encouraged us.

Thank you to those who have supported the ministry financially.

Thank you to those who have shared our messages, read our blog posts, purchased our books, or told others about the missionary work.

And thank you to those who may never have met us personally but have nevertheless taken time to remember our efforts in prayer.

Your kindness has not gone unnoticed.

As we begin this next chapter, we ask you to continue standing with us.

Pray for safe travel.

Pray for good health.

Pray for wisdom in every decision.

Pray for the people we will encounter.

Pray for open doors to share the Gospel.

Pray for the resources needed to carry out the ministry.

Pray for the Christmas outreach.

And above all, pray that GOD'S WILL—NOT OUR PERSONAL AMBITIONS—WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED!

🔥 OUR FINAL WORD BEFORE THE NEXT CHAPTER BEGINS

At 6:45 p.m. Eastern Time, we began our return journey.

We do not know everything that lies ahead.

But we know why we have chosen to go.

WE BELIEVE GOD HAS CALLED US TO SERVE!

We believe there are people who need encouragement.

We believe there are families who need help.

We believe there are children who deserve to know they are loved.

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is still the greatest message of hope this world will ever hear.

And we believe that obedience to God's direction is worth the sacrifice.

We are not going because we have all the answers.

We are not going because we possess unlimited resources.

We are not going because we expect the journey to be easy.

WE ARE GOING BECAUSE WE HAVE SAID YES TO THE LORD!

And now, we entrust the journey to Him.

The what.

The when.

The where.

The how.

The why.

The people.

The provision.

The opportunities.

The challenges.

And the results.

ALL OF IT BELONGS IN HIS HANDS!

If you remember nothing else from this message, please remember this:

GOD DOES NOT NEED US TO BE ALL-POWERFUL. HE CALLS US TO BE FAITHFUL!

And as we continue this journey, our prayer remains:

"LORD, IF YOU DON'T DO THIS THROUGH US, WE CANNOT DO IT. BUT IF YOU HAVE CALLED US, HELP US TO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO YOUR WILL!"

🇵🇭 PHILIPPINES, WE ARE ON OUR WAY!

✈️ THE JOURNEY CONTINUES!

🙏 THE MISSION REMAINS!

✝️ AND TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!

🙏 A PRAYER FOR THE JOURNEY

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with grateful hearts.

Thank You for bringing us this far.

Thank You for the privilege of serving You.

Thank You for the people You have placed in our lives and the opportunities You have given us to share Your love.

As we begin our return journey to the Philippines, we place everything into Your hands.

Protect us as we travel.

Give us strength and good health.

Grant us wisdom, humility, patience, and discernment.

Help us never to confuse our own desires with Your will.

Keep our hearts sensitive to the leading of Your Holy Spirit and faithful to the truth of Your Word.

Lord, remember the forgotten ones.

Remember the struggling families.

Remember the children who need love and encouragement.

Remember the elderly, the lonely, the sick, and those who feel that no one cares.

Open doors for us to minister to them with compassion and dignity.

Provide the people, partnerships, and resources needed to accomplish the work You would have us do.

And when challenges arise, remind us that our help comes from You.

We surrender our plans, our hopes, our fears, and our expectations.

Let everything we do bring honor and glory to the name of Jesus Christ.

Not our will, Lord, but Yours be done.

In Jesus' precious name we pray.

AMEN!
