PLEASE DON'T SCROLL PAST SOMEONE'S CRY FOR HELP
This Is More Than Another GoFundMe Campaign. These Are Real People. Real Families. Real Lives. And Together, We Can Make a Difference.
"My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." — 1 John 3:18 (KJV)
What if the difference between someone's despair and their hope was YOU?
What if a child could return to school because you cared?
What if a struggling mother could put food on her family's table because someone she had never met decided to help?
What if a father, exhausted from trying to provide for his family, discovered that he had not been forgotten?
And what if a person who had almost given up on life heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ because somebody, somewhere, cared enough to make it possible?
Would you help?
Before you answer, I ask you to give me just a few minutes of your time.
Not because we have another fundraising campaign.
Not because we want to add another name to a donor list.
And certainly not because we are trying to compete with the thousands of worthy charitable causes asking for assistance.
But because there are people whose circumstances can change when ordinary people choose to do something extraordinary.
BEHIND EVERY REQUEST IS A HUMAN BEING
When you hear the words poverty, hunger, homelessness, disaster relief, or struggling families, what comes to mind?
Perhaps another news report.
Another photograph.
Another statistic.
Another organization asking for financial support.
But I want you to look beyond those words.
I want you to imagine a mother watching her children go to bed hungry.
A student wondering whether the family can afford another year of education.
A family trying to recover after floodwaters destroyed what little they owned.
A community longing for someone to come alongside them with encouragement, practical assistance, and the message that God has not forgotten them.
These are not simply statistics on a spreadsheet. They are somebody's children, parents, grandparents, brothers, and sisters.
They have names. They have dreams. They have fears. They have hopes.
And they have a future worth investing in.
WE HAVE SEEN WHAT COMPASSION CAN ACCOMPLISH
At Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International (POMI), we are not simply discussing what ought to be done.
We are working to do it.
Our missionary and outreach efforts in the Philippines are centered on reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ while addressing practical needs that cannot simply be wished away.
Our work includes supporting students, distributing Bibles, assisting struggling families, encouraging communities, sharing food, and developing opportunities for more extensive educational, medical, dental, and evangelistic outreach.
During our Christmas outreach in 2025, we prepared to serve approximately 100 families.
Nearly 200 families came.
Think about that.
Behind every additional family was another household hoping to receive something meaningful.
But what mattered most was not the number of families who arrived.
It was the opportunity to share the love of Christ through singing, teaching, prayer, fellowship, and tangible acts of compassion.
This year, our vision is to reach 500 families during Christmas 2026.
And that is only one part of what we are working toward.
We want to expand our reach, strengthen our ministry operations, provide more educational assistance, and establish resources that will help us serve communities more consistently.
The needs are real. The opportunities are real.
And so is the difference that your involvement can make.
TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH MUCH
I want to speak for a moment to the philanthropists, professional athletes, entertainers, business executives, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and charitable foundations who may encounter this message.
You have worked hard. Many of you have overcome tremendous obstacles to reach where you are today.
Some of you know firsthand what it means to struggle.
You remember the people who encouraged you, believed in you, or opened a door when every other door seemed closed.
And many of you have already demonstrated remarkable generosity through charitable giving and community involvement.
For that, we are grateful.
But I would ask you to consider something.
What if your next charitable contribution helped a child stay in school, a family recover from disaster, or a community receive resources it desperately needs?
You do not have to know these families personally to make a difference in their lives.
You do not have to travel thousands of miles to demonstrate compassion.
You do not have to share our religious beliefs to recognize the dignity and worth of the people we serve.
You simply have to care enough to act.
And sometimes, one act of generosity inspires a hundred others.
TO THE PERSON WHO THINKS THEIR GIFT IS TOO SMALL
Perhaps you are reading this and thinking, Pastor, I would love to help, but I don't have much to give.
I understand.
Please hear me.
We are not measuring your compassion by the size of your donation.
A modest contribution given sacrificially is meaningful.
A larger gift that helps us expand an outreach is meaningful.
A business offering supplies or logistical assistance is meaningful.
A person sharing this message with friends, family members, or a charitable foundation is meaningful.
Remember the widow who gave two mites in Mark 12:41–44?
Jesus saw something others might have overlooked.
He saw her heart.
You may not be able to help 500 families.
But perhaps you can help one.
And perhaps your one act of compassion will encourage someone else to help another.
One person. One family. One opportunity. One soul at a time.
That is how meaningful change begins.
PLEASE DON'T DISMISS THIS AS JUST ANOTHER CAUSE
I know there are countless organizations asking for donations.
I know the requests can become overwhelming.
I also know that many people have become skeptical of fundraising appeals, sometimes for understandable reasons.
That is why I invite you to learn about our ministry, read about our outreach efforts, ask questions, and understand what we are working to accomplish.
We are a Christian missionary organization committed to serving people and sharing the Gospel.
Our ministry does not exist to make us wealthy.
We are committed to putting the resources entrusted to our outreach to work for the people and communities we serve. In addition, 100% of the royalties from our books support our missionary and outreach efforts.
We believe that financial stewardship, integrity, compassion, and accountability are essential to Christian ministry.
We are not asking you to give blindly.
We are asking you to consider becoming a partner in a mission with a clear purpose and a genuine desire to help others.
THIS IS YOUR INVITATION TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
There is an old saying that people may forget what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel.
I would add something else.
A family may never know the name of the person who helped them, but they will experience the difference that person's kindness made.
Imagine being that person.
Imagine helping a child discover that their education matters.
Imagine providing a measure of relief to a family facing overwhelming circumstances.
Imagine helping a missionary reach a village where someone is waiting to hear that Jesus Christ loves them.
And imagine what could happen if hundreds or thousands of people united around that purpose.
We do not need everyone to do everything.
We need each person who is able and willing to do something.
WILL YOU STAND WITH US?
SUPPORT OUR GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN — HELP US HELP THEM!
Your contribution can help us move forward with the missionary, educational, humanitarian, and evangelistic work we are undertaking in the Philippines and throughout Asia.
Whether your gift is $5, $25, $100, $1,000, or another amount, what matters is the willingness to participate in something that can outlast the moment in which you give.
If you represent a business, foundation, charitable organization, professional sports team, or philanthropic initiative, we welcome opportunities to discuss meaningful partnerships.
AND PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE
Perhaps you cannot make a financial contribution today.
You can still make an enormous difference.
Share this post on Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, and other social platforms.
Send it to your family and friends.
Forward it to someone who works with a charitable foundation.
Share it with business owners, professional athletes, entertainers, community organizations, churches, and people who have demonstrated a commitment to helping others.
A single share could place this message in front of someone who has the resources, connections, or willingness to help us reach hundreds of families.
You may never know whose heart your simple act of sharing will touch.
Don't underestimate what God can do with one person willing to take one small step of faith.
A FINAL WORD FROM MY HEART
After decades of military service, years of pastoral ministry, and countless opportunities to witness both human suffering and extraordinary kindness, I remain convinced of something:
The world does not suffer from a shortage of people capable of making a difference. Too often, it suffers because those who could make a difference never realize how much their involvement matters.
I cannot solve every problem.
Our ministry cannot meet every need.
But I refuse to believe that because we cannot help everybody, we should stop trying to help somebody.
There is still work to be done.
There are still children to encourage.
There are still families to assist.
There are still communities to reach.
And there are still souls who need to hear the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
So I am asking you, from my heart:
Will you help us reach one more?
Not someday.
Not when everything is convenient.
But while the opportunity is before us.
Because to a struggling family, your act of compassion may mean more than you could ever imagine.
And to someone who feels forgotten, it may be the reminder they desperately need that somebody still cares.
"But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?" — 1 John 3:17 (KJV)
May God bless you for reading, for praying, for sharing, and for whatever part you may choose to play.
With gratitude and a servant's heart,
James Langston
