WHY SHOULD WE GO TO CHURCH?
SOMEBODY SAY AMEN! 🙌
Do you remember those old-fashioned church services when the preacher asked a question, the Hammond organ answered with a soulful chord, and someone in the congregation shouted, “AMEN!”?
I'm delighted to share the second message in our growing The Preaching Hour collection: “Why Should We Go to Church?” It's a short sermon delivered in the spirit of the Pentecostal services I remember from childhood—with organ accompaniment and the joyful responses of the congregation.

The Church Is More Than a Building
In this message, I ask a question many believers have considered: Why should we go to church? But perhaps we should also ask: Why shouldn't we?
When a congregation faithfully preaches the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, believers have a wonderful opportunity to worship, learn, encourage one another, and grow together in faith.
But let's remember something important: the Church is not the bricks, the pews, the roof, or the steeple. The Church is the people whom Jesus Christ has redeemed. A building may be where we gather, but it is not what makes us the Church.
“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:27 (KJV)
Why Gathering Together Still Matters
Knowing that we are the Church does not make fellowship unnecessary. Quite the opposite! Scripture calls believers to encourage one another, stir one another toward love and good works, and not abandon gathering together.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together ... but exhorting one another.”
— Hebrews 10:24–25 (KJV, excerpt)
Some who hear this message may be searching for a church home. Others may be unable to attend in person because of illness, distance, caregiving responsibilities, or other circumstances. Please hear the heart of this message: you are not forgotten, and your place in Christ's body is not determined by a building. Seek sound biblical teaching and Christian fellowship in the ways available to you.
And to those who can gather with a faithful congregation: don't underestimate the blessing of worshiping, praying, learning, and serving alongside other believers.
WE ARE THE CHURCH!
SOMEBODY SHOUT HALLELUJAH!
Let the Music Preach! Let the Word Go Forth!
With our original gospel songs and these old-fashioned sermon recordings, Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International is continuing to share the message of Jesus Christ in ways that can reach listeners wherever they are.
Our first sermon, When the Hunter Becomes the Hunted, reminded us of victory through Christ. This second sermon reminds us that we belong to one another as members of His body.
Will you listen, share this recording with someone, and help us encourage one more soul?
