ONE OPPORTUNITY CAN CHANGE A DESTINY!

The Difference Between Seeing a Need and Meeting It

Scripture: James 4:17 (KJV)

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

It's Friday morning.

For many people, the weekend is almost here.

Some are celebrating another successful workweek. Others are exhausted, struggling financially, concerned about their health, or wondering how they will face the challenges waiting at home.

And somewhere today, a person is praying for help.

Not necessarily for something spectacular.

Perhaps for food.

Medicine.

A safe place to sleep.

A school uniform for a child.

Someone willing to listen.

Or a reason to believe that tomorrow might be better than today.

And here's a thought worth considering.

What if the answer to someone's prayer involves something God has already placed within your ability to do?

The Good Samaritan Had a Choice

In Luke 10:25–37, Jesus told one of the most powerful stories ever recorded about compassion.

A man had been attacked by thieves, beaten, robbed, and left half dead.

A priest saw him and passed by.

A Levite saw him and also passed by.

Both recognized the situation.

Neither stopped to help.

Then a Samaritan came along.

He saw the wounded man.

He had compassion.

And most importantly, he acted.

He treated the man's wounds, transported him to safety, and made arrangements for his continued care.

The difference was not merely what these men saw.

The difference was what they chose to do about it.

Compassion Without Action Changes Very Little

We live in a world overflowing with information.

Every day, we see reports of suffering, poverty, disease, natural disasters, homelessness, hunger, and families struggling to survive.

We see the photographs.

We read the headlines.

We watch the videos.

We shake our heads and say, "Somebody ought to do something."

But sometimes we need to ask a more uncomfortable question.

Why not me?

Not because we can solve every problem.

Not because we have unlimited resources.

And certainly not because we should neglect our own legitimate responsibilities.

But because doing what we can is better than doing nothing when meaningful help is within our reach.

One Person. One Opportunity. One Changed Life.

Think about the child who receives school supplies and discovers that someone believes in their future.

The hungry family that receives a meal and realizes they have not been forgotten.

The sick person who receives access to medical care.

The discouraged believer who receives a Bible and renewed encouragement.

The person who hears the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time.

These are not merely statistics.

They are people.

They have names.

They have families.

They have hopes and dreams.

And they have stories that are still being written.

Through Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International, we have witnessed how acts of compassion can open doors to relationships, encouragement, discipleship, and opportunities to share the gospel.

Our missionary work in the Philippines is not simply about distributing supplies.

It is about serving people with dignity, demonstrating Christ's love, and helping meet real needs.

Food matters.

Education matters.

Healthcare matters.

Shelter matters.

And the eternal spiritual needs of people matter.

We believe these concerns belong together in a ministry that seeks to serve the whole person.

What Will You Leave Behind?

One day, the work we are doing will be finished.

The possessions we accumulated will belong to someone else.

Our positions and titles will pass to others.

The applause will fade.

But the lives we touched may continue influencing generations long after we are gone.

A child you encourage today may grow up to encourage hundreds.

A person you help through a difficult season may someday become a source of strength to an entire community.

A family that experiences compassion may discover a renewed willingness to trust, hope, and help others.

We cannot know every result of our actions.

But we can choose to plant seeds of kindness, truth, and faithfulness.

Galatians 6:9 reminds us:

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

The Question That Should Follow Us Into the Weekend

ARE YOU DOING ALL YOU CAN?

Are you using your influence to encourage others?

Are you using your resources wisely?

Are you recognizing opportunities to serve?

Are you making time for people who cannot repay you?

Are you sharing the hope you have found in Jesus Christ?

Are you willing to move beyond good intentions?

No one can do everything.

But nearly everyone can do something.

And the something you do today may mean more than you will ever know.

A Personal Invitation

At Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International, we are preparing to continue and expand our missionary outreach throughout the Philippines and Asia.

Our vision includes evangelism, discipleship, education, humanitarian assistance, medical and dental outreach, and practical support for families facing difficult circumstances.

As we also prepare for our Christmas 2026 outreach, our goal is to reach 500 families with practical assistance, fellowship, encouragement, and the message of Jesus Christ.

We cannot accomplish these efforts alone.

Your prayers matter.

Your encouragement matters.

Your willingness to share our message matters.

And, for those who are able, your financial partnership can help us put compassion into action.

Our continuing appeal is simple:

HELP US HELP THEM—ONE SOUL AT A TIME.

A Friday Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunities You place before us. Deliver us from indifference, selfishness, and the temptation to believe that our small contributions cannot matter. Give us compassionate hearts, willing hands, and discerning minds. Help us recognize genuine needs and respond according to the resources and abilities You have entrusted to us. May our lives reflect the love of Jesus Christ, and may those we serve experience hope, dignity, and encouragement. In Jesus' name, Amen.

One life. One opportunity. One act of compassion.

You may never know how much difference you made—but that should never stop you from making one.
