🌍 A NEW WEEK. THE SAME GREAT COMMISSION.
Before We Begin Our Work, Let's Begin With Prayer
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15
Another week has arrived.
Not just another Monday.
Not simply another five days of work, appointments, meetings, responsibilities, deadlines, school, errands, bills, and everything else competing for our attention.
God has given us another week of opportunity.
The first full work week of October is here, and before we rush headlong into everything waiting for us, perhaps we should begin where every believer ought to begin:
On our knees.
With prayer.
With supplication.
With thanksgiving.
And with a renewed commitment to the unfinished work Jesus Christ entrusted to His Church.
🌎 THERE IS STILL A WORLD WAITING
Jesus said:
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15
More than two thousand years later, those words still stand.
There are still nations that need Jesus.
There are still villages that need Jesus.
There are still cities that need Jesus.
There are still families that need Jesus.
There are still children who have never heard that God loves them.
There are still men and women trapped in addiction, hopelessness, poverty, fear, violence, exploitation, loneliness, and despair.
There are still people sitting in spiritual darkness who desperately need someone to bring them the Light.
And that someone may be you.
🔥 YOU DON'T HAVE TO CROSS AN OCEAN TO OBEY MARK 16:15
When we hear the word missions, we sometimes imagine airplanes, passports, foreign languages, remote villages, and missionaries traveling thousands of miles from home.
And yes, sometimes that's exactly what missions requires.
But you can begin fulfilling the Great Commission today.
The person sitting beside you at work may need Jesus.
The cashier at the grocery store may need encouragement.
Your neighbor may be struggling silently.
Someone scrolling through social media tonight may desperately need the Scripture you almost decided not to share.
Someone you haven't spoken with in years may need a phone call.
Your mission field may be thousands of miles away.
Or it may be twenty feet away.
Wherever God has placed you, there is someone who needs to know that:
✝️ Jesus saves.
❤️ Jesus loves them.
🙏 Jesus still answers prayer.
🔥 Jesus still changes lives.
👑 And Jesus Christ is coming again.
🙏 BEFORE YOU ASK GOD TO BLESS YOUR WEEK...
Ask Him to use your week.
There is a difference.
We often pray:
“Lord, bless me.”
“Lord, help me.”
“Lord, protect me.”
“Lord, provide for me.”
“Lord, open doors for me.”
And there is nothing wrong with those prayers.
But what might happen if we added:
“Lord, use me.”
Use my hands.
Use my feet.
Use my voice.
Use my resources.
Use my experience.
Use my testimony.
Use my home.
Use my business.
Use my social media.
Use my prayers.
Use whatever I have to help somebody find Jesus Christ.
That prayer can transform an ordinary week into a mission.
🌍 SOME GO. SOME GIVE. SOME PRAY. SOME SEND.
Not everyone can board an airplane and travel to another nation.
But everyone can participate.
You can pray.
You can pray for missionaries working where Christianity is unpopular, restricted, dangerous, or misunderstood.
You can give.
You can help provide Bibles, food, transportation, education, medical assistance, evangelistic materials, and practical help that opens doors for ministry.
You can encourage.
Missionaries get tired too.
Pastors become discouraged.
Workers sometimes wonder whether anyone remembers them.
A message, prayer, gift, or simple word of encouragement can mean more than you realize.
And you can go.
Maybe across an ocean.
Maybe across the country.
Maybe across town.
Maybe across the street.
But somewhere this week, GO.
💡 SOMEONE IS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT
Isaiah wrote:
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.” — Isaiah 9:2
We cannot manufacture the Light.
We are not the Light.
Jesus Christ is the Light.
Our responsibility is to carry the message of that Light wherever God sends us.
Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International remains committed to taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people, communities, villages, and nations where hope is desperately needed.
But this mission has never belonged to one ministry.
It belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ.
It belongs to all of us.
🙏 LET'S PRAY FOR THIS NEW WEEK
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for bringing us into another week.
Before we ask You for anything for ourselves, we pray for those who do not yet know Your Son.
We pray for people sitting in darkness.
We pray for nations where the Gospel is desperately needed.
We pray for missionaries, pastors, evangelists, teachers, churches, and believers carrying Your Word into difficult places.
Protect them.
Strengthen them.
Provide for them.
Encourage them.
Open doors that no man can shut.
Father, give us a renewed burden for souls.
Forgive us when we become so consumed with our own schedules, problems, ambitions, and responsibilities that we forget there is a world around us that desperately needs Jesus.
Use us this week.
Use our voices.
Use our hands.
Use our feet.
Use our resources.
Use our testimonies.
Use our prayers.
And if You tell us to go—
give us the courage to GO.
May somebody hear about Jesus because we lived this week.
May somebody receive hope because we cared.
May somebody encounter Your love because we obeyed.
And may everything we accomplish bring glory—not to ourselves—but to Jesus Christ.
In His precious name we pray,
Amen.
🌎 START THIS WEEK WITH A MISSION
Monday will come.
The alarm clock will ring.
The emails will arrive.
The phone will start buzzing.
The responsibilities will begin.
But before all of that takes control of your attention, remember the words of Jesus:
“GO YE INTO ALL THE WORLD.”
This week, don't merely ask:
“Lord, what are You going to do for me?”
Ask:
“Lord, who can I reach for You?”
Somebody is waiting.
Somebody is searching.
Somebody is hurting.
Somebody is sitting in darkness.
And God has given us another week to carry them the Light.
LET'S GO.
HELP US HELP THEM—ONE SOUL AT A TIME.
