🌏 THE MISSION CONTINUES—EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T SEE IT
A Personal Message to Our Readers, Friends, Supporters, and the POMI Family Around the World
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” — Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
Dear Friends,
I want to share something with you today—not simply as the founder and senior pastor of Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International, but as someone who has spent much of his life learning what it means to trust God, love people, and answer His call.
First, thank you.
Thank you for reading our ministry blog. Thank you for watching our videos, listening to our messages and music, sharing our posts, praying for our missionaries, supporting our projects, and encouraging us along the way.
Whether you have been following this ministry for twenty years or discovered us twenty minutes ago, we are grateful that you are here.
And whether you have contributed financially, prayed faithfully, shared something we published, or simply taken the time to learn about our work, please understand that you are welcome and appreciated.
Today, I want to take you a little deeper into the heart of our ministry.
Not to frighten you.
Not to pressure you.
And certainly not to make anyone feel guilty about what they can or cannot do.
I simply want you to see what we see, understand what we are working toward, and perhaps discover a place where your heart connects with ours.
❤️ OUT OF SIGHT DOES NOT MEAN OUT OF NEED
There is an old expression: “Out of sight, out of mind.”
I've thought about those words many times throughout my years in ministry.
And I've discovered that they describe something very human.
We live busy lives.
We have families to care for, bills to pay, responsibilities to meet, health concerns, personal struggles, and countless things competing for our attention.
What we see every day naturally occupies our thoughts.
What we do not see can gradually fade into the background.
That doesn't necessarily mean we have stopped caring.
Sometimes it simply means life has gotten busy.
I understand that.
But there is something I hope you will remember about missionary work:
The needs do not disappear simply because we are no longer looking at them.
Somewhere in the Philippines tonight, a parent may be wondering how to provide tomorrow's meal.
A child may be trying to study without adequate school supplies.
An elderly person may be longing for someone to visit.
A family may still be recovering from a flood or typhoon.
Someone may be struggling with sickness and limited access to medical care.
And somewhere, someone may be waiting to hear that Jesus Christ loves them.
Those people are not statistics to us.
They are our neighbors.
They are the people we meet, pray with, minister to, and hope to serve more effectively.
And their needs continue long after a photograph has been taken, a video has ended, or a social media post has disappeared from someone's feed.
That is why we keep going. And that is why we keep sharing.
Not because we believe people have forgotten us.
But because we do not want the people we serve to be forgotten.
🇵🇭 THE PHILIPPINES IS MORE THAN A PLACE ON OUR MISSIONARY MAP
For Cecilia and me, the Philippines has a deeply personal meaning.
It is part of our family's history and a nation that has occupied a special place in our hearts for many years.
In 2011, I felt the Lord directing us toward the Philippines to preach the Gospel.
But the journey from receiving that direction to actually stepping onto the mission field required patience, preparation, and faith.
On March 29, 2025, we arrived in the Philippines to begin another important chapter of our missionary journey.
And what had once been a distant vision became a living, breathing reality.
We saw communities.
We met families.
We encountered needs.
We witnessed opportunities.
We experienced the joy of sharing the Gospel and the sobering reality of how much work remains.
We have helped students pursue their education, encouraged families, shared the Word of God, supported humanitarian efforts, and worked alongside people whose dedication to serving others deserves far more recognition than they receive.
Some days are filled with wonderful victories.
Other days are difficult.
There are rains, floods, transportation challenges, limited resources, and unexpected obstacles.
But the mission continues.
And as we prepare for our next phase of missionary work beginning October 31, 2026, we are looking forward with renewed determination.
We are not going to the Philippines merely to conduct activities. We are going to invest in people, strengthen communities, and share the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
🙏 A NUMBER I HAVE CARRIED FOR TEN YEARS
Some of you may remember a message I shared on August 23 concerning our long-term ministry vision.
I want to revisit it because the vision has not gone away.
In fact, the closer we get to the work, the more meaningful it becomes.
On September 4, 2016, during a time of prayer and reflection, a very specific figure was impressed upon my heart.
$1,924,675.68
One million, nine hundred twenty-four thousand, six hundred seventy-five dollars and sixty-eight cents.
I didn't have that money.
I didn't have a list of wealthy supporters waiting to finance the ministry.
And I certainly didn't have every detail figured out.
I remember telling the Lord:
“Lord, You will have to do this, because there is absolutely no way I can.”
Nearly ten years later, I still feel the same way.
But I have also learned something.
Faith does not mean pretending the challenges aren't there.
It means acknowledging the challenges while trusting God to provide wisdom, strength, opportunities, and the people necessary to move forward.
I believe God placed this vision on my heart. But I also understand that faith requires responsible planning, honest stewardship, patience, and hard work.
The $1,924,675.68 is our long-term projected ministry investment—not a claim that this amount has already been raised, nor a demand that it must arrive all at once.
It is a framework for what we hope, pray, and prepare to accomplish.
And I want you to see where it would go.
📋 TWELVE WAYS WE HOPE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
These are the twelve major components of our long-term Philippines ministry vision. The figures are planning estimates and may change as actual costs, partnerships, local requirements, and priorities become clearer.
| Ministry Initiative | Projected Investment |
|---|---|
| 1. International Headquarters & Church Campus | $575,000.00 |
| 2. Revival Tent Ministry | $175,000.00 |
| 3. Mobile Medical & Dental Outreach | $325,000.00 |
| 4. Ministry Personnel Development | $275,000.00 |
| 5. Christmas in October Outreach | $65,000.00 |
| 6. Orphanage, Senior Adult & Halfway House Ministry | $80,000.00 |
| 7. Prison Ministry | $50,000.00 |
| 8. Street Evangelism Ministry | $65,000.00 |
| 9. Disaster Relief & Mass-Casualty Response | $125,000.00 |
| 10. Community Playground Initiative | $55,000.00 |
| 11. Physical Fitness & Wellness Center | $75,000.00 |
| 12. Community Basketball Court Initiative | $59,675.68 |
| TOTAL PROJECTED VISION | $1,924,675.68 |
Now, I know what some of you may be thinking.
“Pastor James, that is an enormous undertaking!”
You're absolutely right.
It is.
But I would encourage you to look beyond the dollar amounts for just a moment.
Look at what each initiative represents.
A headquarters where ministry workers can be trained and sent into communities.
A revival tent where hundreds can gather to hear the Gospel.
Mobile medical and dental clinics bringing needed care closer to underserved families.
Trained personnel equipped to serve effectively.
Christmas celebrations where children receive gifts, families share meals, and the message of Christ's birth is proclaimed.
Visits to orphanages, senior adults, halfway houses, and correctional facilities where people need encouragement and hope.
Disaster-response resources to help families facing emergencies.
Playgrounds, wellness facilities, and basketball courts where young people can find positive activities, guidance, and meaningful relationships.
These are not twelve unrelated ideas.
They are twelve ways of expressing one central mission.
Love people. Serve people. Reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We will not accomplish everything simultaneously. Some projects will require years of development, additional partners, trained professionals, and the necessary approvals.
Others can begin on a much smaller scale.
And that brings me to something especially important.
🌱 YOU DON'T NEED $1.9 MILLION TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Sometimes large numbers unintentionally discourage people.
Someone sees a million-dollar vision and thinks:
“What difference could my little contribution possibly make?”
I want to answer that question personally.
More than you may ever realize.
A student doesn't need to know the total ministry budget to appreciate receiving school supplies.
A hungry child doesn't need to know how much a headquarters costs to appreciate a meal.
A struggling family doesn't need to know how many vehicles we hope to purchase to appreciate someone coming to help.
A person hearing the Gospel for the first time doesn't need to understand the financial requirements of missionary work.
They simply need someone willing to come.
That's why our ministry has always emphasized something much smaller than $1.9 million.
One soul at a time.
One student sponsored.
One family encouraged.
One Bible shared.
One meal provided.
One prayer offered.
One community visited.
One person introduced to Jesus Christ.
Those individual moments matter.
And they are happening in the midst of a much larger vision.
🎄 CHRISTMAS 2026—A VERY PRESENT OPPORTUNITY
While we continue planning for the long-term vision, we also have needs and opportunities right in front of us.
One of those opportunities is our Christmas 2026 outreach in the Philippines.
Last year, we prepared for approximately 100 families.
Nearly 200 attended.
There was fellowship, singing, laughter, prayer, biblical teaching, food, and the excitement of children receiving gifts.
But what stayed with us was not simply the number of people who came.
It was the joy of being able to serve them.
This year, our goal is to reach 500 families.
We hope to provide Christmas meals, gifts for children, Bibles, encouragement, and opportunities for continued educational and spiritual support.
We know that recent flooding, severe weather, and economic challenges have made life more difficult for many families.
We also know that Christmas is approaching quickly.
So this is one of those opportunities where help received now can make a practical difference in what we are able to prepare and provide.
If you are considering supporting a ministry project before the end of the year, we would be grateful if you would consider this one.
And if financial giving is not possible, please don't feel excluded.
Your prayers, encouragement, and willingness to share our message can also help us reach people who may be able to participate.
🤝 TO THOSE WHO HAVE WALKED WITH US—THANK YOU
I want to speak directly to those who have supported Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International over the years.
Some of you have been with us through different seasons of ministry.
You have watched us serve in Italy.
You have followed our journey toward the Philippines.
You have prayed for our travels, our families, our health, our safety, and the people we serve.
Some have contributed financially.
Some have purchased our books, knowing that we direct the royalties from our books toward missionary work.
Some have shared our appeals with friends and family.
Some have simply sent a message saying, “Pastor, we're praying for you.”
Please never underestimate the encouragement those words bring.
We are grateful for every expression of kindness.
And to those who are new to our ministry, I want you to know something.
You do not have to become a donor to become a friend of this ministry.
We would love for you to follow our journey, read our messages, listen to our music, explore our books, pray with us, and get to know the work we are doing.
If you eventually feel led to participate financially, wonderful.
If not, we are still glad you are here.
The Gospel is not something we place behind a donation requirement.
It is the reason we exist.
🌎 HELP US KEEP THE PEOPLE IN VIEW
Let me return to that expression I mentioned earlier.
“Out of sight, out of mind.”
I don't want that to describe our relationship with the people we serve.
And I don't want our ministry updates to become just another collection of photographs, appeals, and announcements that people scroll past without understanding the lives behind them.
So we will keep telling the stories.
We will keep sharing the challenges.
We will celebrate the victories.
We will communicate our needs as clearly as possible.
And we will continue inviting you to walk alongside us.
Not because every reader is expected to give.
Not because every follower is responsible for financing our vision.
But because awareness creates understanding, understanding encourages compassion, and compassion can lead to meaningful action.
Sometimes that action is a financial contribution.
Sometimes it is prayer.
Sometimes it is sharing a post with someone who has a heart for missions.
Sometimes it is offering professional knowledge, resources, or connections.
And sometimes it is simply remembering that somewhere beyond our immediate surroundings, people are facing circumstances very different from our own.
They matter to God.
And they matter to us.
❤️ AN INVITATION, NOT AN OBLIGATION
If something you have read today has touched your heart, I invite you to consider how you might become involved.
Pray for our missionaries and the communities we serve.
Share this message with someone who may be interested in Christian missions or humanitarian outreach.
Explore our ministry website and learn about our projects.
Consider supporting a student, helping with our Christmas outreach, or contributing toward one of the twelve components of our long-term vision.
We currently provide several ways for those who wish to contribute, including PayPal, X Tips, Cash App, Facebook Messenger, GoFundMe, and Givebutter. Information about these options is available through our ministry website.
Give only as you are willing and able.
The Bible says:
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJV)
That is the spirit in which we want to invite your participation.
Freely.
Prayerfully.
Joyfully.
Without pressure.
And with a shared desire to do something good in the lives of others.
✝️ THE VISION IS BIG. BUT THE MISSION IS PERSONAL.
When I think about September 4, 2016, and the figure that was impressed upon my heart, I still marvel at the journey.
Ten years have passed.
Many things have changed.
We have grown older.
Our experiences have deepened.
Our understanding of the challenges has become clearer.
But our commitment to the Gospel remains.
We are still learning.
Still praying.
Still preparing.
Still trusting.
And still believing that God can use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
Perhaps we will never personally meet everyone who reads this message.
Perhaps some of you will never visit the Philippines.
Perhaps the only connection we will ever share is through a computer screen, a mobile phone, a prayer, or a message exchanged across thousands of miles.
But that does not make our connection meaningless.
Because together, we can help keep people from becoming invisible.
Together, we can remind a struggling family that someone cares.
Together, we can help a child pursue an education.
Together, we can encourage a missionary who has had a difficult day.
And together, we can help carry the message of Jesus Christ into places we may never personally visit.
I cannot tell you exactly how every part of this $1,924,675.68 vision will unfold.
But I can tell you what we intend to do.
We intend to keep showing up.
We intend to keep serving.
We intend to keep sharing the Gospel.
We intend to use the resources entrusted to the ministry responsibly.
And we intend to continue the work as God provides the opportunities, people, and means.
Because ultimately, the mission was never about reaching a financial figure.
It was about reaching people.
And if all we accomplish today is making a difference in one person's life, then today has not been wasted.
Tomorrow, by God's grace, we will try to reach another.
And another.
And another.
Until the work He has given us to do is finished.
“For we are labourers together with God...” — 1 Corinthians 3:9 (KJV)
Thank you for taking the time to read this personal message.
Thank you for caring.
Thank you for being part of our extended ministry family.
And thank you for helping us keep the people, the purpose, and the mission in view.
With appreciation, prayers, and Christian love,
