THE PREACHING HOUR • NEW SERMON SERIES

💍 BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU SAY “I DO”!

Before the wedding, before the vows, before the promise of forever—have you sought the Lord?

There are decisions we make in life that affect a day, a month, or a season. And then there are decisions that can change the course of an entire lifetime. Marriage is one of them.

In the newest installment of THE PREACHING HOUR, Pastor James Langston opens a timely new sermon series with a warning that is as practical as it is spiritual: Be careful before you say “I do.”

Someone may look like the perfect match. The attraction may be strong. Friends and family may already be talking about the wedding. But the question remains: Have you prayed about this relationship? Have you sincerely sought God's wisdom?

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

Love deserves more than a hurried decision

Prayer is not a substitute for learning someone's character. It belongs alongside honest conversations about faith, values, finances, communication, commitment, and the responsibilities of marriage. A healthy decision should not require you to ignore serious warning signs or rush past wise counsel.

This opening message is not about frightening people away from marriage. It is about encouraging them to approach a sacred commitment with open eyes, an open Bible, and a heart willing to listen to God.

Already married? This message can still encourage you to pray for your marriage, strengthen your communication, and help younger couples make thoughtful decisions. And if you are facing a difficult or unsafe relationship, seek trustworthy support rather than assuming you must endure harm.

Listen to this opening installment, then share it with a young adult, an engaged couple, a parent, or someone who may benefit from a moment of prayerful reflection.

Before you say “I do,” make room to ask: “Lord, what would You have me do?”
