BEFORE THE WORLD TELLS YOU WHO YOU ARE—REMEMBER WHOSE YOU ARE
Friday, October 9, 2026 | Early Morning Encouragement
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
Good morning!
Somewhere this morning, a billionaire is waking up in a beautiful home, surrounded by everything money can purchase.
Somewhere else, a struggling parent is waking up wondering how to put breakfast on the table.
One has more than enough.
The other barely has enough.
But both have something in common.
Neither knows everything this day will bring.
Money cannot purchase tomorrow's guarantees.
Education cannot eliminate life's uncertainties.
Fame cannot prevent disappointment.
And poverty does not diminish a person's value in the eyes of God.
When the sun rises, every one of us faces the same fundamental question:
WHO IS DIRECTING YOUR LIFE?
BEFORE YOU CHECK YOUR PHONE, CHECK YOUR HEART
We've become accustomed to reaching for our phones before our feet touch the floor.
Messages.
Headlines.
Notifications.
Bank balances.
Schedules.
Deadlines.
And before we've even had our first cup of coffee, the world is already telling us what deserves our attention.
But what about God?
When was the last time you awakened and said:
“Lord, before I ask You to bless my plans, show me what You have planned for me today”?
There is a difference.
One approach asks God to follow us.
The other asks us to follow God.
Proverbs 3:6 reminds us:
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Notice those words.
In ALL thy ways.
Not just Sunday mornings.
Not just during emergencies.
Not just when the doctor gives us troubling news.
Not just when the bank account is empty.
But in our conversations, decisions, relationships, responsibilities, and ordinary activities.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU OWN ISN'T SOMETHING YOU PURCHASED
You can lose your job and still have purpose.
You can lose your possessions and still have dignity.
You can lose someone's approval and still have worth.
But when you lose sight of who you are before God, even great accomplishments can begin to feel empty.
The world measures people by their possessions, positions, appearances, and influence.
God looks upon the heart.
Your value is not determined by what you own, what you earn, or what other people think about you.
So whether you are putting on a business suit, a military uniform, work boots, a school uniform, or clothes worn thin by years of use, remember this:
You are entering a day filled with opportunities to make choices that matter.
You can encourage someone.
You can forgive someone.
You can demonstrate integrity.
You can help someone less fortunate.
You can speak the truth.
You can make room for God in a world that constantly demands your attention.
LET'S BEGIN THIS FRIDAY WITH PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of another day.
Before the demands of this Friday begin competing for our attention, we acknowledge You.
Guide the decisions we must make.
Guard the words we speak.
Give us patience with difficult people, wisdom in uncertain situations, and compassion for those carrying burdens we cannot see.
Bless the wealthy with humility and generosity.
Bless those struggling financially with provision, opportunities, and encouragement.
Protect our children.
Strengthen our families.
Comfort those who awakened grieving.
And help us remember that our worth is not determined by worldly success but by the value You have placed upon human life.
May our actions today reflect the love of Jesus Christ.
In His name, Amen.
ONE FINAL THOUGHT BEFORE YOU GO
You may not control everything that happens today.
But you can choose whose wisdom you will seek.
Before the world tells you what to think, where to go, and who to become—spend a few moments with the One who created you.
And remember:
You don't have to understand everything about today to trust God with today.
Have a blessed Friday!
