Life has a way of meeting us before we are ready.

That is one reason I have always believed there is tremendous value in meeting with God before we meet the demands of the day.
The Psalmist declared:
“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee...”

Before the telephone.
Before the television.
Before the news.
Before social media.
Before the problems.
Before the noise.
God.
365 DAYS. 365 OPPORTUNITIES TO BEGIN AGAIN.

Get back up.
There are seasons when circumstances tell you:
"There is no way."
Faith answers:
God is still God.
That is what biblical encouragement does.
It doesn't pretend the mountain isn't there.
It reminds us that God is bigger than the mountain.
It doesn't deny the storm.
It reminds us that Jesus is still Lord in the storm.
And it doesn't promise that every day will be easy.
It reminds us that we never have to face a single day alone.
ENCOURAGEMENT ROOTED IN SCRIPTURE
There is a tremendous difference between positive thinking and biblical encouragement.
Positive thinking may tell you:
"Believe in yourself."
Scripture teaches us:
Trust in God.
Human motivation may say:
"You've got this."
Faith recognizes:
God has me.
That distinction matters.
Words of Encouragement (4th Edition) is intended to continually bring the reader back to the foundation that does not move:

We somehow find time for the things we decide matter.
We find time to check our phones.

We find time for conversations.

So the question may not always be:
“Do I have time?”
Perhaps the better question is:
“What deserves my time?”
If you can begin with only a few minutes each morning, begin there.
Open God's Word.
Read.
Think.
Pray.
Listen.
Then carry that truth with you throughout the day.
A few intentional minutes with God can influence the remaining hours that follow.

You don't have to be a pastor.
You don't have to be a theologian.
You don't need a Bible college degree.
You don't need to know every book of the Bible.
And you certainly don't have to have everything in your life figured out.

A military member far from home.
A senior citizen facing a new season of life.
A new Christian learning how to walk with God.
A longtime believer going through a dry season.
A worker trying to make it through another difficult week.

DON'T JUST READ IT—LIVE IT
My hope has never been that someone would simply finish another book.
I want God's Word to change something.
Change how we think.
Change how we respond.
Change how we pray.
Change how we treat people.
Change how we handle disappointment.
Change how we face adversity.
Change how we approach tomorrow.
Because the goal of a devotional isn't merely to say:
“I read today's page.”
The greater goal is to eventually say:
“God spoke to my heart, and I'm going to live differently because of it.”
START TOMORROW MORNING DIFFERENTLY
Before you pick up the phone...
Before you check the notifications...
Before you read the headlines...
Before you begin worrying about everything that must be done...
Give God the opening moments.
Perhaps tomorrow morning your prayer can be as simple as:
“Father, thank You for another day. Speak to me through Your Word. Order my steps. Guard my heart. Direct my thoughts. Help me live today in a way that pleases You. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
Then begin.
One Scripture.
One devotional.
One prayer.
One day at a time.
