WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
The Question Every Soul Must Answer

There are many questions you will answer during your lifetime.
What will I do with my life?
Who will I marry?
Where will I live?
What career will I pursue?
What do I believe?
Where am I going?
But there is one question that rises above them all because its answer reaches beyond this life and into eternity:
WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
Jesus Himself brought His disciples face-to-face with this question.
📖 “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?” — Matthew 16:15 (KJV)
Those words were spoken more than two thousand years ago, but the question has never expired.
It is just as personal today as it was when Jesus first asked it.
And notice what Jesus did not ask.
He did not ask, “What does your family believe about Me?”
He did not ask, “What does your pastor say about Me?”
He did not ask, “What does your denomination teach about Me?”
He did not ask, “What does society think about Me?”
He asked:
“BUT WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM?”
In other words:
Who do YOU say that Jesus Christ is?
And an answer you will give.
MANY KNOW ABOUT JESUS
Millions of people throughout the world know something about Jesus Christ.
They have heard His name.
They have seen crosses.
They celebrate Christmas.
They know about Easter.
They may have attended church as children.
They may own a Bible.
They may even be able to quote Scripture.
But there is an enormous difference between knowing about Jesus Christ and knowing Jesus Christ.
You can know historical facts about someone without ever having a relationship with that person.
And Christianity is not merely knowing facts about Jesus.
It is encountering, believing, receiving, following, and surrendering your life to Jesus Christ Himself.
SO, WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
The Bible does not leave us guessing.
Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God.
When Jesus asked Peter the question, Peter answered:
📖 “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” — Matthew 16:16 (KJV)
That answer changes everything.
Jesus was not merely another religious teacher.
He was not merely a prophet.
He was not simply a philosopher teaching humanity how to become better people.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
John 1:1 declares:
📖 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Then John 1:14 tells us:
📖 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”
Jesus Christ entered this world and walked among humanity.
He touched the sick.
He welcomed the rejected.
He confronted sin.
He healed broken bodies.
He restored broken lives.
He raised the dead.
He preached repentance.
He demonstrated compassion.
And ultimately, He went to Calvary.
JESUS CHRIST CAME TO SAVE SINNERS
Why did Jesus come?
He answered that question Himself:
📖 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10 (KJV)
Humanity's greatest problem is not political.
It is not economic.
It is not technological.
It is not educational.
Those things certainly affect our lives, but Scripture identifies something much deeper.
Sin.
📖 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Every one of us has sinned.
Pastor.
Missionary.
Teacher.
Doctor.
Politician.
Businessperson.
Rich.
Poor.
Young.
Old.
Religious.
Nonreligious.
All have sinned.
And sin separates humanity from a holy God.
That is why Jesus came.
THE CROSS WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT
Calvary was not Jesus losing control of the situation.
The Cross was central to God's plan of redemption.
Jesus took upon Himself the judgment our sins deserved.
📖 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Think about those words:
WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS.
God did not wait until we cleaned ourselves up.
He did not wait until we became religious.
He did not wait until we deserved mercy.
Christ died for us while we were sinners.
That is grace.
That is mercy.
That is love.
BUT JESUS DID NOT STAY IN THE GRAVE
The Gospel does not end at the Cross.
Jesus Christ rose again.
The tomb is empty.
Death could not hold Him.
The grave could not keep Him.
And because He lives, there is hope for every person who comes to Him.
Jesus declared:
📖 “I am the resurrection, and the life…” — John 11:25 (KJV)
Christianity stands upon a living Savior.
Jesus Christ is alive.
JESUS IS NOT ONE WAY AMONG MANY
This is where the message of Jesus Christ becomes uncomfortable for some people.
Our world often tells us that every spiritual road eventually arrives at the same destination.
Jesus did not teach that.
He said:
📖 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6 (KJV)
Notice the words.
THE WAY.
THE TRUTH.
THE LIFE.
Jesus did not point toward another way.
He said He is the Way.
That is why the question of His identity cannot simply be ignored.
YOU CANNOT BORROW SOMEONE ELSE'S ANSWER
Your grandmother's faith cannot save you.
Your mother's relationship with God cannot save you.
Your father's Christianity cannot save you.
Your pastor cannot believe for you.
Your church membership cannot substitute for knowing Christ.
And your denomination cannot answer Matthew 16:15 for you.
At some point, everything becomes personal.
Jesus stands before the human heart and asks:
“BUT WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM?”
Peter answered.
Now you must answer.
PERHAPS YOU HAVE BEEN RUNNING
Maybe you once walked with God.
Maybe you grew up in church but drifted away.
Maybe life disappointed you.
Maybe Christians disappointed you.
Maybe tragedy caused you to question everything you once believed.
Maybe you have spent years telling yourself:
“Someday I'll get serious about God.”
Someday is a dangerous word.
None of us has been promised tomorrow.
📖 “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” — 2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV)
Not someday.
Today.
YOU MAY THINK YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR
You haven't.
You may think you have committed too many sins.
You haven't.
You may believe your life is too broken.
It isn't.
You may believe God could never forgive what you have done.
Listen carefully:
The blood of Jesus Christ is greater than your past.
There is forgiveness at the Cross.
There is mercy at the Cross.
There is restoration at the Cross.
There is a new beginning at the Cross.
WHAT MUST I DO?
The Bible makes the invitation wonderfully clear.
📖 Romans 10:9–10 (KJV) teaches that if you confess the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
Salvation cannot be purchased.
You cannot earn it through good deeds.
You cannot work your way into Heaven.
You come to Jesus Christ by faith.
Repent.
Believe.
Surrender.
Receive Him.
And then follow Him.
JESUS CHRIST IS STILL CHANGING LIVES
Around the world, people are still discovering what happens when Jesus Christ enters a human heart.
Addictions are broken.
Families are restored.
The hopeless discover hope.
The guilty discover forgiveness.
The broken discover healing.
The wandering discover direction.
The sinner discovers grace.

ONE DAY, THE QUESTION WILL NO LONGER BE DEBATABLE
Scripture tells us:
📖 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” — Philippians 2:10 (KJV)
And continues:
📖 “And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…” — Philippians 2:11 (KJV)
The question is not whether Jesus Christ will ultimately be acknowledged.
The question is whether you will receive Him now.
Before you close this page, silence the noise around you for a moment.
Forget what everyone else believes.
Forget what social media says.
Forget what culture says.
Forget what somebody told you years ago.
Hear Jesus asking you personally:
“BUT WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM?”
Peter answered:
“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Now it is your turn.
Who is Jesus Christ to you?
The question has been asked.
What is your answer?
