☀️ STOP. REFLECT. AND RESET.

A Difficult Morning Does Not Have to Become a Difficult Day

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

How is your Thursday going?

Not how did you hope it would go.

How is it actually going?

Maybe you've accomplished everything you planned.

Wonderful.

But perhaps this morning didn't go particularly well.

Something broke.

Someone irritated you.

A meeting went badly.

You made a mistake.

The telephone brought unwelcome news.

A bill arrived.

Somebody disappointed you.

Your plans changed.

Or maybe nothing catastrophic happened—

YOU'RE JUST HAVING ONE OF THOSE DAYS.

All right.

It's midday.

Here's your opportunity:

STOP. REFLECT. AND RESET.

⏰ DON'T GIVE ONE BAD MOMENT THE REST OF YOUR DAY

Isn't it amazing how one five-minute incident can control the next five hours?

Someone says something offensive at 8:30.

We're still replaying it at noon.

A driver cuts us off in traffic.

Twenty minutes later we're still angry.

We make one mistake at work.

We spend the remainder of the day mentally punishing ourselves.

Somebody doesn't return a telephone call.

We construct an entire explanation in our minds.

STOP.

Don't give one moment that much authority.

Whatever happened this morning—

happened.

If you can correct it, correct it.

If you need to apologize, apologize.

If somebody needs forgiveness, forgive.

If you need to learn something, learn it.

But don't continue paying interest on a debt that's already been settled.

📖 DAVID DIDN'T SAY THIS IS THE PERFECT DAY

He said:

“This is the day which the LORD hath made...”

There is a difference.

God never promised that every day would be pleasant.

Jesus certainly never taught that.

There will be difficult days.

Frustrating days.

Disappointing days.

Confusing days.

Days when you ask:

“Lord, what in the world is happening?”

But even then—

GOD HAS NOT VACATED THE THRONE.

Your circumstances changed.

God didn't.

Your plans changed.

God didn't.

Your emotions changed.

God didn't.

🔄 RESET DOESN'T MEAN PRETENDING NOTHING HAPPENED

This is important.

Biblical encouragement isn't pretending pain isn't painful.

Resetting doesn't mean denying reality.

It means refusing to allow what happened to dictate everything that happens next.

RESET YOUR THOUGHTS.

Paul wrote:

“Whatsoever things are true... honest... just... pure... lovely... of good report... think on these things.” — Philippians 4:8

RESET YOUR ATTITUDE.

Maybe everybody else isn't the problem.

Ask God to search you too.

RESET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.

Today may not look the way you planned.

God can still use it.

RESET YOUR FOCUS.

Stop staring at what went wrong long enough to see what can still go right.

❤️ SOMETIMES THE PERSON WHO NEEDS GRACE IS YOU

Christians talk frequently about extending grace to others.

Good.

But some people extend grace to everybody except themselves.

You made a mistake.

Learn from it.

You said something wrong.

Apologize.

You missed an opportunity.

Watch for the next one.

You fell.

GET UP.

Proverbs 24:16 says:

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again...”

Notice the verse doesn't say the righteous person never falls.

HE GETS BACK UP.

Maybe that's today's message for you.

Get back up.

🔥 THERE'S STILL TIME

If you're reading this around lunchtime or early afternoon, the day isn't over.

There are still people you can encourage.

There are still prayers you can pray.

There is still work you can accomplish.

There are still wrongs you can make right.

There are still opportunities to serve.

There is still somebody who may need your smile, your call, your help, your prayer, or your testimony.

DON'T BURY THE REST OF TODAY WITH THIS MORNING'S DISAPPOINTMENTS.

God isn't finished with today.

Neither are you.

🙏 A MIDDAY PRAYER

Father,

Thank You for bringing us this far today.

Where we have made mistakes, correct us.

Where others have hurt us, help us forgive.

Where plans have failed, help us adjust.

Where disappointment has entered, restore our perspective.

Where anxiety has taken control, give us peace.

And where we've allowed one difficult moment to dominate our thoughts, help us release it.

We give You the remainder of this day.

Use it.

Use us.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

RESET.

REFOCUS.

RESTART.

THERE'S STILL TIME TO FINISH STRONG.
