🌇 YOU'RE TIRED—BUT YOU'RE NOT FINISHED
Don't Make a Permanent Decision Because You're Experiencing Temporary Exhaustion
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9
By late afternoon, reality has usually caught up with us.
The morning energy has faded.
The coffee wore off.
The meetings happened.
The problems showed up.
The telephone rang.
Responsibilities accumulated.
And maybe you've reached the point where you're thinking:
“I'M TIRED.”
That's okay.
There is no shame in being tired.
But hear me carefully:
TIRED IS NOT THE SAME AS FINISHED.
💪 FAITHFUL PEOPLE GET TIRED TOO
Some Christians mistakenly believe that if they're really walking by faith, they'll always feel strong.
Tell that to Elijah.
Tell that to Moses.
Tell that to Jeremiah.
Tell that to Paul.
Even Jesus, in His humanity, sat weary beside Jacob's well.
John 4:6 tells us:
“Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well...”
Being tired doesn't mean you've lost your faith.
It may simply mean—
YOU'VE BEEN WALKING.
⚠️ DON'T CONFUSE THINGS THAT ARE NOT THE SAME
DON'T CONFUSE SLOW PROGRESS WITH NO PROGRESS.
You may not be where you want to be.
But are you farther than where you started?
Then thank God.
DON'T CONFUSE WAITING WITH ABANDONMENT.
God's silence doesn't mean God's absence.
DON'T CONFUSE DIFFICULTY WITH GOD'S DISAPPROVAL.
Sometimes obedience leads directly into difficulty.
Ask Moses.
Ask Joseph.
Ask Paul.
Ask the disciples.
DON'T CONFUSE EXHAUSTION WITH A COMMAND TO QUIT.
Sometimes you don't need to surrender the mission.
YOU NEED TO REST.
🛑 RESTING AND QUITTING ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS
Even Jesus told His disciples:
“Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while...” — Mark 6:31
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop for a moment.
Eat.
Rest.
Sleep.
Pray.
Clear your mind.
Get away from the noise.
Then come back.
There is no medal in heaven for destroying yourself trying to prove you're committed.
REST CAN BE PART OF OBEDIENCE.
But after you've rested—
listen for God.
If He says continue—
continue.
🌱 “IN DUE SEASON”
Galatians 6:9 contains a phrase impatient people don't particularly enjoy:
“...in due season...”
We like:
Now.
God often says:
Season.
Seeds have seasons.
Harvests have seasons.
Growth has seasons.
Preparation has seasons.
Waiting has seasons.
The farmer doesn't dig up the seed every afternoon to see whether it's growing.
He plants.
He waters.
He waits.
He trusts the process God established.
Maybe something you've prayed about is still underground.
UNDERGROUND DOESN'T MEAN DEAD.
Keep trusting God.
🔥 DON'T MAKE A PERMANENT DECISION WHILE YOU'RE TEMPORARILY EXHAUSTED
This may be for somebody.
You're ready to quit the job.
Quit the ministry.
Quit the project.
Quit trying.
Walk away.
Give up.
Before you do—
REST FIRST.
Pray first.
Seek counsel.
Open your Bible.
Sleep on it.
Ask whether God is releasing you or whether exhaustion is speaking louder than faith.
There are times when God genuinely closes chapters.
There are times when wisdom requires changing direction.
But don't mistake emotional exhaustion for divine instruction.
👣 YOU ONLY NEED GRACE FOR THE NEXT STEP
Sometimes the entire mountain intimidates us.
Stop staring at the summit.
Look at the next foothold.
You don't have to finish everything tonight.
You don't have to solve everything tonight.
You don't have to understand everything tonight.
TAKE THE NEXT STEP.
Then another.
Then another.
And somewhere along the way, you'll look behind you and realize:
God brought me farther than I thought.
🙏 A PRAYER FOR THE WEARY
Father,
Somebody reading this is tired.
Not lazy.
Not faithless.
Just tired.
Strengthen them.
Give them wisdom to know when to rest and courage to know when to continue.
Protect them from making permanent decisions in temporary moments of exhaustion.
Remind them that slow progress is still progress.
Remind them that waiting isn't abandonment.
Remind them that difficulty doesn't mean You have left.
And give them enough grace—
not necessarily for the entire journey—
BUT FOR THE NEXT STEP.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
KEEP GOING.
YOU MAY BE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK.
And if you're not?
Keep walking anyway.
God hasn't asked you to know exactly how many miles remain.
HE HAS ASKED YOU TO BE FAITHFUL WITH THE STEP IN FRONT OF YOU.
