America. Israel. Iran. Jerusalem. How Did We Get Here?

Four names appear repeatedly throughout The United States, Israel, and the Middle East:

AMERICA. ISRAEL. IRAN. JERUSALEM.

Today we hear those names and immediately think about politics, conflict and breaking news.

But this book asks us to look deeper.

Israel has an ancient biblical story as well as a modern political history.

Iran cannot be understood merely through today's tensions. Long before the name Iran dominated modern headlines, ancient Persia occupied an important place in biblical and world history.

America's relationship with the modern State of Israel developed through decades of changing events, administrations, wars, diplomacy and strategic considerations.

And then there is Jerusalem.

Small compared with the great capitals of the world.

Yet century after century, empire after empire, generation after generation...

Jerusalem refuses to disappear from the story.

People are not governments.

A discussion about the Iranian government is not a condemnation of the Iranian people.

Concern for Palestinians does not require rejection of Israel's existence.

Recognizing Israel's biblical significance does not require unconditional approval of every decision made by an Israeli government.

And loving America does not give us permission to force America into Bible prophecy where Scripture has not explicitly placed it.

Those distinctions aren't always comfortable.

But truth isn't supposed to depend upon our comfort.

This book asks difficult questions because these are difficult subjects.

And tomorrow we're going to introduce the three words that became guardrails throughout all 666 pages:

PROPHECY. POSSIBILITY. SPECULATION.
