🥁 CAN YOU HEAR THE GIVING MUSIC?
Clap Your Hands. Move Your Feet. Praise the Lord. Then Let Your Giving Join the Song.
“God loveth a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7
If you've spent much time in church, you probably know the sound.
The offering is about to be received.
The musicians change gears.
The drummer finds the beat.
The tambourine starts shaking.
Hands begin clapping.
Feet start moving.
Somebody shouts:
“Praise the Lord!”
And suddenly what could have been a quiet moment becomes a celebration.
THAT'S GIVING MUSIC.
There's something appropriate about that.
Because giving to God and helping somebody else shouldn't always sound like a funeral.
Sometimes—
GIVING OUGHT TO HAVE A BEAT!
🥁 BOOM. CLAP. BOOM-BOOM. CLAP.
Come on now.
We're getting ready to help somebody.
👏 GET THOSE HANDS MOVING
Imagine the musicians playing.
Imagine the church clapping.
Imagine somebody stepping into the aisle.
Imagine the saints praising God.
Now imagine that offering traveling thousands of miles across the Pacific and arriving where somebody desperately needs help.
Suddenly this isn't merely:
“I gave twenty dollars.”
It's:
“I HELPED SOMEBODY EAT.”
It isn't:
“I sent fifty dollars.”
It's:
“I HELPED A FAMILY GET THROUGH ANOTHER DAY.”
It isn't:
“I gave a hundred dollars.”
It's:
“I HELPED PUT SOMETHING INTO THE HANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD ALMOST NOTHING LEFT.”
Now the giving music sounds different, doesn't it?
🥁 BOOM. CLAP. BOOM-BOOM. CLAP.
🇵🇭 NOW LET THE MUSIC TAKE YOU TO THE PHILIPPINES
Close your eyes for a moment and picture this.
Not a sanctuary.
Not comfortable padded seats.
Not air conditioning.
Not musicians.
Picture a family in the Philippines whose life has been turned upside down.
Floodwater came.
The rain kept falling.
Roads became difficult or impossible to travel.
Work stopped.
Food became harder to obtain.
What little somebody possessed was damaged or lost.
And after the cameras leave and the headline disappears—
THEY STILL HAVE TO LIVE TOMORROW.
They still have to eat.
They still need clean water.
They still need clothing.
They still have children to care for.
They still need medicine.
They still need somewhere safe to sleep.
They still need hope.
❤️ MIGUEL
Let's call him Miguel.
The name may mean nothing to you.
You've never met him.
You've never shaken his hand.
You wouldn't recognize him walking down the street.
But picture Miguel standing outside what remains of his home.
He isn't asking for luxury.
He isn't wondering which restaurant he'll visit tonight.
He's wondering:
“HOW DO I KEEP MY FAMILY GOING?”
Now listen.
🥁 BOOM. CLAP. BOOM-BOOM. CLAP.
Somebody gives.
Food moves.
Help moves.
Hope moves.
❤️ ALEJANDRO
Now picture Alejandro.
Maybe he normally works every day.
Maybe he's accustomed to providing for himself.
But disaster doesn't ask whether you're hardworking before entering your house.
Floodwater doesn't check your bank account.
A typhoon doesn't ask whether this is a convenient week to destroy what you've spent years building.
Suddenly a man who is accustomed to helping others may need someone to help him.
And perhaps that's where you enter his story.
🥁 BOOM. CLAP.
Someone gives.
AND ALEJANDRO GETS ANOTHER REASON TO BELIEVE HE HASN'T BEEN FORGOTTEN.
❤️ MARIA
Picture Maria.
Maybe she's a mother.
There is something different about being hungry yourself and watching someone you love become hungry.
A parent will often say:
“I'm not hungry.”
But sometimes what they really mean is:
“THERE ISN'T ENOUGH FOR BOTH OF US.”
So they divide what little remains.
They stretch it.
They sacrifice.
They pray tomorrow will somehow be better.
And somewhere thousands of miles away, somebody sees a ministry post and feels something in their heart:
“I can help.”
That's when giving becomes more than money.
IT BECOMES AN ANSWER TO SOMEBODY'S PRAYER.
❤️ JASMINE
And then there's Jasmine.
Maybe she's wondering what happens next.
Will life return to normal?
Will there be enough food?
Will the family recover?
Will somebody come?
Will anybody help?
She doesn't know your name either.
Think about that.
YOU DON'T KNOW HER—AND SHE DOESN'T KNOW YOU.
But God knows both of you.
And isn't it just like God to put resources into one person's hand and somebody else's need upon that person's heart?
⚠️ THESE NAMES ARE HELPING US PICTURE REAL PEOPLE
Miguel.
Alejandro.
Maria.
Jasmine.
I'm using these names to help us put faces in our imagination to a much larger reality; they are not intended as the identities of four specific beneficiaries unless we have personally documented their stories.
But the people they represent are very real.
The hunger is real.
The flooding is real.
The displacement is real.
The struggle is real.
The uncertainty is real.
And the need for help is real.
SOMETIMES A NUMBER DOESN'T MOVE US UNTIL WE CAN SEE A FACE.
So see the faces.
🥁 NOW TURN THE GIVING MUSIC BACK UP!
Can you hear it?
The drums are going.
The hands are clapping.
The feet are moving.
But now we're not giving merely because it's offering time.
We're giving because somewhere—
SOMEBODY NEEDS US.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35
Give cheerfully.
Give prayerfully.
Give compassionately.
Give because God has blessed you.
Give because you remember what it felt like when somebody helped you.
Give because you can.
Give because someone else can't.
Give because Jesus taught us not to walk past suffering and pretend we didn't see it.
💵 “BUT MY GIFT ISN'T VERY LARGE.”
Who told you it had to be?
Don't compare your giving with somebody else's.
If God places $5 upon your heart—
give five.
If it's $10—
give ten.
If it's $25—
give twenty-five.
If God has blessed you to give $100, $500, $1,000, or more—
thank Him for the ability and give as He leads.
The question isn't:
“HOW DOES MY GIFT COMPARE WITH SOMEBODY ELSE'S?”
The question is:
“LORD, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME DO?”
Then do that.
🍚 PUT SOMETHING IN THE BOWL
I want you to visualize something.
Imagine an empty bowl.
Now imagine somebody giving.
Something goes into it.
Another person gives.
Something else goes into it.
Another gives.
Then another.
And another.
Pretty soon—
THE BOWL ISN'T EMPTY ANYMORE.
That's partnership.
One person may not be able to feed a community.
But a community of givers can feed people.
One person may not be able to rebuild everything.
But together, we can help somebody take the next step.
🌎 YOUR GIFT CAN GO WHERE YOU MAY NEVER GO
You may never visit the Philippines.
You may never walk through one of these communities.
You may never personally meet the people your giving helps.
That's okay.
YOUR COMPASSION DOESN'T NEED A PASSPORT.
Your prayers can reach them.
Your faith can stand with them.
And your financial gift can become food, assistance, outreach, and practical help through the work we're doing.
That's why we continue asking.
Not because asking is always comfortable.
It isn't.
We ask because the need hasn't disappeared.
✝️ AND WHILE WE HELP THE BODY—WE CANNOT FORGET THE SOUL
Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International exists for more than humanitarian assistance.
We help because Jesus loves people.
We feed because Jesus loves people.
We respond because Jesus loves people.
And while helping people through the immediate crisis—
WE WANT THEM TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST.
A bag of food may help somebody through today.
The Gospel can change their eternity.
We want to minister to the whole person—mind, body, soul, and spirit.
That's the mission.
🥁 ALL RIGHT, MUSICIANS—ONE MORE TIME!
Can you hear that giving music now?
🥁 BOOM.
Somebody prayed.
👏 CLAP.
Somebody gave.
🥁 BOOM-BOOM.
Somebody shared this message.
👏 CLAP.
Somebody became a partner.
And somewhere on the other side of the world—
SOMEBODY RECEIVED HELP.
Now that's something worth praising God about!
🙏 BEFORE YOU SCROLL AWAY...
Don't merely say:
“That's sad.”
Ask God:
“LORD, WHAT CAN I DO?”
Maybe your part is prayer.
Pray.
Maybe your part is sharing this message.
Share it.
Maybe your part is giving.
Give.
Maybe your part is becoming a regular World Outreach Partner.
Join us.
But please—
DO SOMETHING.
Because Miguel represents somebody.
Alejandro represents somebody.
Maria represents somebody.
Jasmine represents somebody.
And whoever that real person is—
THEY MATTER TO GOD.
❤️ CAN YOU HELP US HELP THEM?
We're trying to help people in the Philippines who are struggling simply to hold on—to recover, feed their families, rebuild their lives, and make it through another day.
We cannot do it alone.
WE NEED YOUR PRAYER.
WE NEED YOUR FAITH.
WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL HELP.
And perhaps tonight, somewhere in the Philippines, somebody is praying:
“Lord, please help us.”
Maybe God won't drop the answer from the sky.
MAYBE HE PUT PART OF THEIR ANSWER IN OUR HANDS.
So come on.
Get those feet moving.
Get those hands clapping.
Get that heart praising.
And if God speaks to you—
LET YOUR GIVING JOIN THE MUSIC.
🥁👏🥁👏
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give... for God loveth a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7
GIVE CHEERFULLY.
GIVE PRAYERFULLY.
GIVE COMPASSIONATELY.
HELP US HELP ONE MORE.
