🌙 BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR NEXT MOVE—ASK GOD

Not Every Open Door Is God's Door, and Not Every Opportunity Is Your Assignment

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:6

The day is winding down.

Perhaps you've spent Thursday making decisions.

Small ones.

Large ones.

Some insignificant.

Others capable of changing the direction of your life.

Tonight, before you begin thinking about tomorrow, I want to leave you with a simple instruction:

BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR NEXT MOVE—ASK GOD.

We live in a culture that celebrates speed.

Move quickly.

Answer now.

Respond immediately.

Make the deal.

Take the opportunity.

Follow your heart.

Trust your instincts.

Don't miss out.

But Scripture teaches something better.

ACKNOWLEDGE GOD.

Then allow Him to direct your path.

🚪 NOT EVERY OPEN DOOR IS GOD'S DOOR

Christians sometimes say:

“The door opened, so it must be God's will.”

Not necessarily.

An opportunity is not automatically an assignment.

Jonah found a ship going in precisely the direction he wanted to travel—

AWAY FROM GOD'S COMMAND.

The availability of transportation didn't mean God approved the destination.

Sometimes the wrong door opens easily.

That's why we need discernment.

🧭 ASK BEFORE YOU MOVE

Before making an important decision, ask:

DOES THIS AGREE WITH GOD'S WORD?

God won't lead you somewhere His Word forbids you to go.

HAVE I PRAYED ABOUT THIS—or ONLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT?

We can spend days analyzing something and five minutes praying about it.

Reverse that ratio occasionally.

WHAT IS DRIVING ME?

Faith?

Fear?

Pride?

Pressure?

Anger?

Loneliness?

Greed?

Impatience?

Desperation?

Be willing to answer truthfully.

WILL THIS MOVE ME CLOSER TO GOD OR PULL ME AWAY FROM HIM?

Every opportunity has a destination.

Look beyond the doorway.

CAN I SINCERELY ASK GOD TO BLESS THIS?

That's a powerful question.

🛑 SOMETIMES GOD SAYS WAIT

We don't like that word.

We like GO.

Go feels productive.

Go feels exciting.

Go gives us something to announce.

Waiting feels like nothing is happening.

But sometimes waiting is precisely where God develops the character we'll need when the door finally opens.

Isaiah 40:31 says:

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength...”

Waiting on God isn't wasting time.

WAITING CAN BE PREPARATION.

🚦 SOMETIMES GOD SAYS STOP

There are directions we shouldn't continue traveling simply because we've invested years going that way.

If God says stop—

stop.

Pride says:

“But look how much I've already invested.”

Faith says:

“OBEDIENCE MATTERS MORE THAN MY INVESTMENT.”

A wrong road doesn't become right because you've traveled it for twenty miles.

Turn around.

🟢 SOMETIMES GOD SAYS GO

And when He does—

go.

Don't spend the next six months asking for twelve more confirmations because obedience frightens you.

There comes a point when prayer must become action.

Peter had to step out of the boat.

Abraham had to leave.

Moses had to confront Pharaoh.

Joshua had to cross Jordan.

FAITH EVENTUALLY MOVES ITS FEET.

🔥 AND SOMETIMES GOD SAYS: “I ALREADY TOLD YOU.”

This one may sting a little.

Sometimes we're not waiting for direction.

We're waiting for different instructions.

God has already spoken through His Word.

We simply don't like the answer.

So we pray again.

Ask somebody else.

Watch another sermon.

Search another website.

Look for another sign.

But if God has already made the matter clear—

YOU DON'T NEED ANOTHER SIGN.

You need obedience.

Jesus said:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15

🌙 SURRENDER TOMORROW TONIGHT

Before you sleep, give God tomorrow.

You don't know what it holds.

He does.

You don't know who you'll meet.

He does.

You don't know which doors will open.

He does.

You don't know which doors need to remain closed.

HE DOES.

So surrender your plans without surrendering your responsibility.

Prepare.

Plan.

Work.

Be diligent.

But leave enough room in tomorrow for God to change your itinerary.

🙏 A THURSDAY NIGHT PRAYER FOR DIRECTION

Father,

Thank You for bringing us through another day.

Tonight we place tomorrow into Your hands.

Direct our steps.

Close every door we should not enter.

Open those You have ordained.

Give us discernment to recognize the difference.

When You say wait, give us patience.

When You say stop, give us humility.

When You say go, give us courage.

And when Your Word has already spoken, give us obedience.

Protect us from decisions driven by fear, anger, pride, pressure, impatience, or selfish ambition.

May our plans surrender to Your purposes.

May our desires surrender to Your will.

May our feet follow where You lead.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Tonight—

rest.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO SOLVE TOMORROW BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP.

God will still be God when you wake up.

PRAY BEFORE YOU DECIDE.

SEEK HIS WORD BEFORE THE WORLD.

TRUST HIM BEFORE YOU MOVE.

SURRENDER TOMORROW TONIGHT. HE WILL LEAD THE WAY.
