⏳ THE NEXT GREAT EVENT ON GOD’S PROPHETIC CLOCK
The Rapture of the Church: You May Not Believe It—But You Should Know What the Bible Says
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God... Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air...” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
There are some messages a preacher would rather not preach.
Not because they aren't true.
Not because they aren't important.
But because the moment you mention them, people begin choosing sides.
THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH IS ONE OF THEM.
Some Christians believe strongly in a pre-tribulation Rapture.
Others understand the timing differently.
Some denominations rarely mention it.
Some people ridicule the entire idea.
And millions outside Christianity simply don't believe it will ever happen.
That's their decision.
MY RESPONSIBILITY IS NOT TO FORCE YOU TO BELIEVE.
My responsibility is to tell you what Scripture says so that you can make an informed decision.
After that, the decision belongs to you.
📖 WHAT DOES THE BIBLE ACTUALLY SAY?
Let's begin with the passage itself.
Paul writes:
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God...” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16
Notice who is coming.
THE LORD HIMSELF.
Christianity isn't ultimately waiting for a political leader.
We aren't waiting for technology to save humanity.
We aren't waiting for another economic system.
We aren't waiting for mankind to finally solve every problem.
WE ARE WAITING FOR JESUS CHRIST.
Paul continues:
“...and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”
And then:
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds...” — 1 Thessalonians 4:17
There is the phrase central to what Christians commonly call the Rapture:
“CAUGHT UP.”
The English word rapture does not appear in the King James Version, but the doctrine does not depend upon the English word appearing there. The expression “caught up” describes believers being gathered to Christ.
And where are they going?
“...to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
That final statement is everything.
FOREVER WITH JESUS.
🔥 JESUS ALSO PROMISED TO RETURN
This wasn't something Paul invented.
Before His crucifixion, Jesus told His disciples:
“I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” — John 14:3
Think about that.
“I WILL COME AGAIN.”
Not perhaps.
Not maybe.
Not if circumstances permit.
Jesus gave His disciples a promise.
And Christianity has lived with that expectation ever since.
⚡ HOW QUICKLY WILL IT HAPPEN?
Paul gives us another remarkable description:
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye...” — 1 Corinthians 15:52
Not gradually.
Not over several months.
IN A MOMENT.
The same passage says:
“We shall be changed.”
The believer's hope isn't merely escaping difficulty.
It is ultimately about transformation, resurrection, reunion, and being eternally with Christ.
That's why Paul concludes the Thessalonian passage with:
“Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:18
THE RAPTURE WAS INTENDED TO GIVE BELIEVERS HOPE.
Not hysteria.
Not endless date-setting.
Not sensationalism.
HOPE.
📅 WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN?
I don't know.
And neither does anybody else.
Jesus said:
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man...” — Matthew 24:36
That should immediately eliminate every preacher, author, internet personality, or self-proclaimed prophet who announces:
“I have calculated the date.”
No, you haven't.
For generations, people have attempted to set dates for Christ's return.
They were wrong.
DON'T SET DATES GOD DIDN'T GIVE US.
Biblical prophecy isn't an invitation to calculate what God intentionally withheld.
It is an invitation to be ready.
🌎 BUT PASTOR, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR CENTURIES
Yes.
And Scripture anticipated that objection.
Peter wrote:
“There shall come in the last days scoffers... saying, Where is the promise of his coming?” — 2 Peter 3:3–4
People were asking the question nearly two thousand years ago.
They are still asking it today.
But God's timetable isn't ours.
Peter continues:
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise... but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9
What looks like delay from our perspective may actually represent something extraordinary:
MERCY.
Another day for somebody to repent.
Another opportunity for someone to hear the Gospel.
Another chance for somebody to come home.
🚨 WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING HAPPENING IN OUR WORLD?
Wars.
Earthquakes.
Political instability.
Technological transformation.
Natural disasters.
Economic uncertainty.
Moral confusion.
Disease.
Violence.
International tensions.
People naturally ask:
“ARE THESE SIGNS THAT THE RAPTURE IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN?”
We should be careful.
Jesus told His followers to remain watchful, and Scripture certainly speaks extensively about conditions surrounding the last days.
But Christians shouldn't turn every earthquake, war, election, disease outbreak, or technological development into a declaration that:
“THIS PROVES THE RAPTURE WILL HAPPEN NEXT WEEK.”
That isn't responsible biblical interpretation.
Our responsibility is not to manufacture signs.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO REMAIN READY.
⏰ GOD'S PROPHETIC CLOCK DOESN'T NEED OUR HELP
I believe the next great event on God's prophetic timetable is the Rapture of the Church.
I believe Jesus Christ is coming for His Church.
But my confidence isn't based upon a newspaper headline.
It isn't based upon social media.
It isn't based upon somebody's dream.
It isn't based upon a viral video.
IT IS BASED UPON THE WORD OF GOD.
Prophecy should cause us to look at Scripture before we look at speculation.
❓ WHAT IF I DON'T BELIEVE ANY OF THIS?
Then I appreciate you reading this far.
Seriously.
I'm not going to insult you.
I'm not going to ridicule you.
And I'm certainly not going to pretend I can force faith into your heart.
But I will ask you something:
WHAT IF IT'S TRUE?
Not:
“What does your friend believe?”
Not:
“What did your parents believe?”
Not:
“What denomination were you raised in?”
Ask yourself:
What does Scripture actually teach about Jesus Christ and His return?
Read it for yourself.
Start with:
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18.
Then read:
John 14:1–6.
1 Corinthians 15:50–58.
Matthew 24.
2 Peter 3.
Don't take my word for it.
OPEN THE BIBLE.
Read.
Study.
Pray.
Ask questions.
And make your decision based upon what you discover.
⚠️ DON'T CONFUSE “I DON'T BELIEVE IT” WITH “IT CAN'T HAPPEN”
Human history is filled with things people thought impossible—until they happened.
Our disbelief doesn't determine reality.
If I refuse to believe gravity exists and step from a roof, gravity doesn't suspend itself out of respect for my opinion.
Truth doesn't require my permission.
So when approaching eternity, the question shouldn't merely be:
“DO I LIKE THIS?”
The question must be:
“IS IT TRUE?”
That question deserves serious consideration.
✝️ THE BIGGER QUESTION ISN'T “WHEN?”
Christians can become so fascinated with prophetic timelines that we overlook the most important question.
Not:
“WHEN WILL JESUS COME?”
But:
“IF HE CAME TODAY, WOULD I BE READY?”
You can understand Daniel's seventy weeks.
You can chart Revelation.
You can debate pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, pre-wrath, and post-tribulation positions.
You can know every prophecy conference speaker by name.
And still miss Jesus.
PROPHECY WITHOUT CHRIST IS JUST INFORMATION.
The Gospel calls us to something much greater.
Relationship.
Repentance.
Faith.
Salvation.
❤️ JESUS IS STILL SAVING
The most important preparation for Christ's return isn't filling your basement with supplies.
It isn't decoding every headline.
It isn't purchasing another prophecy book.
IT IS KNOWING JESUS CHRIST.
The Bible says:
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” — Acts 16:31
Jesus died for our sins.
He was buried.
He rose again.
And Scripture declares that He is coming again.
The same Jesus who offers salvation today is the Jesus believers are waiting to see.
🕊️ WHAT SHOULD CHRISTIANS DO WHILE WE WAIT?
Somebody might ask:
“If Jesus could return, shouldn't we just sit around waiting?”
Absolutely not.
If anything, His promised return should make us more active.
Pray.
Love your family.
Forgive people.
Help the hurting.
Feed the hungry.
Care for the poor.
Live holy.
Preach the Gospel.
Support missions.
Make disciples.
Tell somebody about Jesus.
KEEP WORKING UNTIL HE COMES.
The possibility of Christ's return isn't an excuse to abandon the world.
It is motivation to reach as many people as possible while there is still time.
🔔 ONE DAY THE TRUMPET WILL SOUND
I don't know whether it will happen during my lifetime.
I don't know whether it will happen during yours.
And I won't insult Scripture by pretending to know what God hasn't revealed.
But I believe the promise.
One day—
THE LORD HIMSELF SHALL DESCEND.
One day—
THE TRUMP OF GOD SHALL SOUND.
One day—
THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE.
One day—
BELIEVERS WHO REMAIN SHALL BE CAUGHT UP.
And one day—
WE SHALL EVER BE WITH THE LORD.
That is our blessed hope.
🙏 ARE YOU READY?
Maybe you've attended church your entire life.
Maybe you've never entered one.
Maybe you're a Christian.
Maybe you're skeptical.
Maybe somebody sent you this article and you're reading it thinking:
“I don't believe any of this.”
That's between you and God.
My responsibility isn't to force you.
MY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO TELL YOU.
And now that you've heard it, I ask you to investigate it for yourself.
Because if Jesus Christ really is coming again—
THERE IS NO QUESTION MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHETHER YOU ARE READY TO MEET HIM.
🙏 PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the promise that Jesus Christ is coming again.
Keep us from fear, sensationalism, speculation, and date-setting. Help us remain anchored firmly in Your Word.
Awaken those who have grown spiritually asleep.
Strengthen believers who have become discouraged while waiting.
Give us urgency to preach the Gospel, compassion to help the hurting, courage to speak truth, and wisdom to recognize that every additional day is another opportunity to reach someone.
And Father, for the person reading this who does not know Jesus Christ, draw that heart toward You.
Let today become the day they stop running, stop postponing, and finally say:
“Jesus, I need You.”
Until Christ comes, help us remain faithful.
Watching.
Working.
Witnessing.
And waiting.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

You don't have to believe me.
BUT PLEASE DON'T IGNORE THE QUESTION.
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air...” — 1 Thessalonians 4:17
