✨ LET HER LIGHT SHINE

A Tribute for Women’s Equality Day

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

Today, on Women’s Equality Day, we pause to recognize the immeasurable value, dignity, contributions, and God-given purpose of women across every generation and nation.

From the boardroom to the prayer room, the classroom to the mission field, the home to the halls of leadership, women have demonstrated courage, wisdom, compassion, resilience, sacrifice, and extraordinary faith.

But today is about more than recognizing accomplishments.

It is also about recognizing God-given worth.

Long before society debated a woman’s value, Scripture declared something foundational:

“So God created man in his own image... male and female created he them.” — Genesis 1:27

A woman's worth is not determined by her title, salary, education, marital status, popularity, age, appearance, or the approval of others.

HER WORTH BEGINS WITH HER CREATOR.

She bears the image of God.

She has purpose.

She has gifts.

She has a voice.

And she has light that God intends her to use for His glory.

🌟 LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

Jesus said in Matthew 5:16:

“Let your light so shine...”

Think about those words.

God doesn't call us to hide what He has placed within us.

Throughout Scripture, we encounter women who refused to allow circumstances to extinguish their light.

Esther demonstrated courage when her people needed someone willing to stand.

Ruth showed extraordinary loyalty and faithfulness when her future seemed uncertain.

Deborah provided leadership, wisdom, and courage during a critical period in Israel's history.

Hannah demonstrated the power of persistent prayer.

Mary surrendered herself to God's extraordinary calling with the words, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord.”

Mary Magdalene became one of the first witnesses proclaiming the news of Christ's resurrection.

Priscilla helped instruct others in the faith.

Lydia opened her heart and home to the work of the Gospel.

Different women.

Different circumstances.

Different generations.

But one common thread:

THEY ALLOWED GOD TO USE THEM.

And their light continues shining through the pages of Scripture today.

❤️ TO THE WOMAN READING THIS

Perhaps you don't feel particularly strong today.

Maybe you're tired.

Maybe you've spent years caring for everybody else while quietly wondering whether anybody notices you.

Maybe you've raised children.

Built a career.

Served your church.

Supported your family.

Cared for aging parents.

Survived heartbreak.

Overcome discrimination.

Started over after failure.

Prayed through nights nobody knew were difficult.

Smiled while carrying burdens nobody could see.

Or perhaps you're a young woman still trying to discover where you belong and what God intends to do with your life.

Please remember:

GOD SEES YOU.

Your faithfulness matters.

Your prayers matter.

Your wisdom matters.

Your compassion matters.

Your testimony matters.

Your contribution matters.

And your life matters.

You don't have to become somebody else before God can use you.

Let Him use you.

🌍 EQUALITY AND OUR CHRISTIAN WITNESS

Women’s Equality Day also gives us an opportunity to examine how we treat one another.

Christians should never be comfortable with injustice, degradation, exploitation, abuse, trafficking, discrimination, or the devaluing of another human being.

Our treatment of people should reflect the character of the Christ we proclaim.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28

Our differences do not diminish our worth before God.

Men and women are not competitors for God's affection.

WE ARE FELLOW IMAGE-BEARERS CALLED TO GLORIFY HIM.

When women flourish in their God-given gifts, families benefit.

Churches benefit.

Communities benefit.

Nations benefit.

And when Christian women allow the light of Jesus Christ to shine through their lives, the Kingdom of God is advanced.

🔥 DON'T DIM YOUR LIGHT

There will always be voices telling you:

You're not enough.

You're too old.

You're too young.

You're too inexperienced.

You've made too many mistakes.

Your opportunity has passed.

Someone else could do it better.

But God's calling is not determined by somebody else's opinion.

If God has given you something to do—

DO IT.

If He has given you something to say—

SAY IT WITH GRACE AND COURAGE.

If He has given you someone to help—

HELP THEM.

If He has given you a ministry—

SERVE FAITHFULLY.

If He has given you a dream consistent with His will—

DON'T BURY IT BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE CANNOT SEE IT.

Let your light shine.

Not so people will glorify you

but, as Jesus said:

“GLORIFY YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN.”

That is the difference.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

💭 THOUGHT FOR TODAY

“A woman who knows her worth in God does not need the world’s permission to shine; she needs only the courage to walk faithfully in the purpose He has given her.”
