God Still Performs Miracles Today
Yesterday. Today. Forever.
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." — Hebrews 13:8
One of the questions we are asked most often is:
"Does God still perform miracles today?"
Our answer is an unashamed, wholehearted yes.
Not because we have read about miracles in history books.
Not because we have heard someone else's testimony.
But because we have witnessed God's miraculous power firsthand.
Over the years, Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International has watched the Lord answer prayer in ways that no human explanation could adequately describe. We do not claim that every prayer is answered exactly as we hope or according to our timetable. God remains sovereign, and His wisdom is perfect. Yet we also believe He still heals, provides, comforts, delivers, and intervenes according to His will and for His glory.
Miracles are not given to draw attention to people.
They point us to Jesus Christ.
They remind us that the God who opened the Red Sea, raised Lazarus, healed the blind, and calmed the storm has not changed.
What Is a Miracle?
A miracle is more than an extraordinary event.
It is God's gracious intervention that displays His power, reveals His compassion, and strengthens faith.
Sometimes miracles happen instantly.
Sometimes they unfold over days, weeks, or months.
Sometimes God heals physically.
Sometimes He restores relationships.
Sometimes He provides exactly what is needed when every earthly resource has been exhausted.
The common thread is always the same:
God receives the glory.
A Healing During Bible Study
One evening during our weekly Bible study, someone arrived with a painful sprained ankle.
Walking had become difficult.
The discomfort was obvious.
As believers gathered together, we simply obeyed the biblical instruction to pray.
There was no emotional manipulation.
No spectacle.
Just ordinary believers praying to an extraordinary God.
During that prayer, the pain disappeared.
Strength returned.
The individual stood, walked, and realized that what had caused pain moments earlier was gone.
The evening continued, but so did our gratitude.
The miracle reminded everyone present that God is just as interested in meeting ordinary needs as He is extraordinary ones.
A Mother's Heart—and God's Perfect Knowledge
On another occasion, a young man came requesting prayer for his mother.
She had been admitted to the hospital with a serious heart condition.
He did not begin describing medical reports or explaining exactly what doctors had discovered.
Before he had the opportunity, the Holy Spirit impressed upon us a specific word concerning the exact location of the problem.
It identified the blocked valve that required God's touch.
Neither the young man nor anyone else had shared those details beforehand.
When confirmation came that the prayer had accurately identified the condition, everyone present was reminded that our Heavenly Father knows every detail long before we speak.
God not only knew where the problem was.
He demonstrated that nothing hidden from human eyes is hidden from Him.
The family later rejoiced in God's intervention as healing came.
Healing from Cancer
Perhaps one of the most emotional testimonies involved a woman who had been diagnosed with cancerous cells within her reproductive organs.
Fear had gripped her heart.
Questions filled her mind.
The future seemed uncertain.
The church prayed.
She trusted the Lord.
When subsequent medical evaluations were completed, the cancerous cells were gone.
The report brought tears of thanksgiving, not only to her family but to the entire congregation.
Moments like these remind us that while physicians faithfully practice medicine, God remains the Creator of the human body.
We thank God for doctors, nurses, surgeons, and medical professionals. We also thank Him because every good gift ultimately comes from His hand.
A Baby with a 106-Degree Fever
One meeting remains etched into our memories.
A mother entered carrying her six-week-old baby.
The child's temperature had reached 106 degrees.
As any parent can imagine, fear filled the room.
Rather than surrendering to panic, the mother brought her child for prayer.
Believers gathered around that precious little one and asked the Lord to intervene.
Almost immediately, the fever broke.
The baby's condition changed dramatically.
The atmosphere shifted from concern to praise.
What began with anxious prayers ended with grateful worship.
That day reminded us that Jesus welcomed little children during His earthly ministry, and His compassion has not diminished.
God's Provision When Hope Was Fading
Miracles are not limited to physical healing.
Sometimes God's greatest miracle is His provision during overwhelming need.
One family came seeking prayer because life had reached what they believed was its breaking point.
There was no money for food.
Bills continued to accumulate.
The husband desperately needed employment.
Faith was being stretched to its limits.
Together we prayed.
We believed God would provide.
Within days, unexpected financial help arrived from sources the family had never anticipated.
The money was freely given.
It enabled them to purchase groceries, pay pressing bills, and still left several hundred dollars available for other necessities.
Then, within five days, another miracle unfolded.
The husband received a job offer.
Not just any job.
It was work directly related to the college degree he had earned.
God did not merely meet one need.
He addressed the family's immediate crisis while also providing long-term stability.
Their testimony became a reminder that God's provision often arrives precisely when our resources end.
Why Does God Perform Miracles?
The purpose of miracles is never entertainment.
They are not intended to elevate a minister or create a reputation.
Throughout Scripture, miracles consistently point people toward God.
They reveal His compassion.
They strengthen faith.
They encourage believers to trust Him more deeply.
They remind unbelievers that Jesus Christ is alive.
Every miracle we have witnessed has ultimately directed attention away from human ability and toward God's goodness.
When Healing Doesn't Come Immediately
As we rejoice over these testimonies, we also recognize that sincere believers sometimes pray faithfully and do not receive the answer they hoped for in this life.
The Bible itself records faithful servants who experienced suffering, hardship, and unanswered questions.
Our confidence, therefore, is not based solely on receiving the answer we desire.
Our confidence rests in the character of God.
He is always wise.
He is always loving.
He is always faithful.
Whether He answers immediately, gradually, differently than expected, or ultimately in eternity, He remains worthy of our trust.
Keep Believing
If you are praying today for healing...
Do not lose hope.
If you are praying for your marriage...
Keep believing.
If you are praying for your children...
Keep believing.
If you are praying for financial provision...
Keep believing.
If you are praying for salvation for someone you love...
Keep believing.
God still hears.
God still answers.
God still opens doors no one else can open.
And yes—
God still performs miracles today.
A Prayer for Those Waiting on God
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the unchanging God who still hears the cries of Your people. We praise You for every testimony of healing, provision, comfort, and restored hope. For those reading these words who are carrying heavy burdens, strengthen their faith and remind them that You have not forgotten them.
Bring healing where there is sickness, peace where there is fear, wisdom where there is uncertainty, and provision where there is lack. Help us to trust You whether the answer comes today or in the days ahead, knowing that You are always working for Your glory and for the good of those who love You.
May every answer to prayer point people to Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.
