WHEN SIN CHANGES ITS NAME

One of the greatest deceptions of our generation is not that sin exists, but that we've changed its name.

We no longer call it sin. We call it a "mistake," a "poor choice," an "alternative lifestyle," "being true to myself," "adult entertainment," "living together before marriage," "recreational drug use," "stretching the truth," "harmless gossip," "anger issues," or simply "being human."

Why? Because changing the label often helps ease the conviction.

We tell ourselves, "Nobody's perfect." "God understands." "It's only a little sin." "Everyone else is doing it." Yet these comforting phrases stand in direct contradiction to the Word of God.

The Bible mentions sin, sinful, sinner, or related variants approximately 772 times, and never once presents sin in a positive light. That alone should cause us to pause and reflect.

Sin destroys marriages. Sin destroys families. Sin destroys ministries, nations, reputations, and souls. The enemy's oldest strategy remains unchanged: make sin appear harmless until its consequences become unavoidable.

The truth is not popular, but it remains true: "For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

Yet there is hope.

Jesus Christ hates sin, but He loves the sinner. "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). God did not send His Son to affirm our sin, but to save us from it.

The question each of us must answer is not, "How much sin can I get away with?" but rather, "What must I do to be right with God?"

Today, if the Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart, do not ignore His voice. Eternity is too long, and the price of deception is too high.
