📌 Who Is Really to Blame? — A Hard Look at the Next Generation
Gen Z is often labeled as disconnected, rebellious, slothful, arrogant, argumentative—even lazy. Those words get thrown around easily in conversations, headlines, and posts.
But let’s pause for a moment and ask a deeper question:
Are they truly the problem… or are they a reflection of the world we’ve built?
Every generation is shaped by what it sees, hears, and experiences. When a child is raised in a home centered on Christ, guided by truth, discipline, love, and accountability, the fruit of that life is often evident. But when that same child is left to “figure it out” in a culture filled with confusion, compromise, and competing voices, should we really be surprised by the outcome?
This is not condemnation—it’s reflection.
Over 3,000 years ago, the Holy Spirit spoke through King Solomon in Proverbs, reminding us that what is planted will eventually grow. Values don’t appear out of nowhere. Character isn’t formed by accident. Direction doesn’t come without guidance.
So instead of pointing fingers at a generation, perhaps we should look inward:
• What are we modeling?
• What are we teaching—by word and by example?
• What are we allowing to shape the hearts and minds of those coming behind us?
Gen Z doesn’t need more criticism—they need clarity, truth, leadership, and love.
And maybe—just maybe—the change we want to see in them begins with a change in us.
Let’s stop asking, “What’s wrong with them?”
And start asking, “What have we shown them?”
