“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
— Hebrews 10:25 (KJV)
In today’s fast-paced and increasingly digital world, it has become all too easy for Christians to withdraw from one another. Church attendance is down in many places. Spiritual isolation is on the rise. And for some, the idea of “doing church” online or on their own has replaced the biblical model of corporate worship and face-to-face fellowship.
But Hebrews 10:25 reminds us of a divine imperative: Don’t forsake gathering together. Why? Because we need one another. We were not created to walk this journey of faith alone.
The author of Hebrews connects this call to fellowship with a sense of urgency—"as you see the Day approaching." That “Day” is the return of Christ. In a time of spiritual decline, cultural confusion, and increasing deception, we need each other more, not less.
🛐 Church Is More Than a Building
Attending a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching, Holy Spirit-filled church isn’t just a spiritual obligation—it’s a source of strength, joy, and spiritual sharpening. Proverbs 27:17 says:
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
In the fellowship of the saints, you’ll find encouragement in your trials, accountability in your struggles, and inspiration for your calling. The right church family doesn’t weigh you down—it lifts you up.
✝️ Why Fellowship Matters
Here are just a few reasons why gathering together with other believers is essential:
-
Encouragement in tough times: Sometimes the Word you need won’t come from a podcast, but from a hug, a prayer, or a conversation with a fellow believer.
-
Accountability and growth: Fellowship helps us stay sharp in our convictions, habits, and character.
-
Spiritual covering and guidance: A Bible-preaching church offers the oversight and instruction we need to stay grounded in truth.
-
Unity of purpose: Together, we pray, serve, and share the Gospel more effectively than we ever could alone.
-
Witness to the world: A unified, loving body of believers is one of the most powerful testimonies of the Gospel.
🙌 Stay With the Body
If you are currently attending a church that teaches the truth, honors the Word of God, and flows with the Spirit of God—stay with them. You’re in a blessed place. And if you’re still searching, don’t give up. Ask God to lead you to a community that will challenge and grow your faith.
Remember, the enemy loves to isolate—because isolation weakens. But God calls us to assemble—because fellowship strengthens.
👥 Final Thoughts
Don’t let discouragement, distraction, or disappointment pull you away from God’s people. Yes, no church is perfect. But the Bride of Christ is still His plan for the earth.
Keep assembling. Keep exhorting. Keep growing—especially as you see the Day approaching.
