Why the Answer Is Still Jesus Christ

"Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest." — Matthew 9:37–38

Read the headlines.

Open your local newspaper.

It doesn't take long to realize something is deeply wrong with our world.

We are living in an age of remarkable technological advancement, incredible medical breakthroughs, and unprecedented access to information. Yet beneath all of our progress lies an unmistakable reality:

The human heart has not changed.

Our world is still plagued by violence, greed, hatred, corruption, addiction, abuse, human trafficking, broken families, loneliness, and spiritual darkness.

In many ways, mankind has learned how to make life more convenient.

But we have not learned how to cure the human soul.

The Headlines Tell a Story

Around the world, violence continues to claim lives every day. According to the World Health Organization, injuries and violence contribute to millions of deaths annually, with homicide and suicide remaining among the leading causes of death for many young people.

Human trafficking continues to enslave men, women, and children across the globe. Cybercrime has expanded into a multibillion-dollar international enterprise, often linked with organized crime, fraud, exploitation, and even human trafficking.

Women and girls remain especially vulnerable to domestic and family violence. Recent United Nations data estimates that roughly one woman is killed every ten minutes by an intimate partner or family member somewhere in the world.

These statistics are heartbreaking.

But statistics never tell the whole story.

Behind every number is a name.

A family.

A dream.

A life created in the image of God.

We Keep Treating the Symptoms

Our society constantly proposes new solutions.

More legislation.

More funding.

More government programs.

More policies.

More committees.

More conferences.

These efforts can sometimes help address specific problems, improve public safety, or assist those in need. Christians should appreciate every effort that genuinely protects life, promotes justice, and serves our neighbors.

But none of these can solve humanity's deepest problem.

The greatest crisis facing our world is not merely political.

It is not merely economic.

It is not merely educational.

It is not merely social.

It is spiritual.

Scripture declares,

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

Every broken system is ultimately made up of broken people.

Until the heart changes, society will continue to struggle with the same sins under different names.

Jesus Addressed the Root Problem

When Jesus looked upon the multitudes, He saw something others often overlooked.

He did not merely see crowds.

He saw souls.

People who were weary.

People who were hurting.

People who were wandering without hope.

That is why He declared,

"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few."

His answer was not despair.

It was action.

Pray.

Go.

Share the Gospel.

Make disciples.

The Gospel does not simply improve behavior.

It transforms lives.

It reconciles sinners to God.

It changes hearts from the inside out.

That is something no government, political party, court system, or social program can accomplish.

The Mission Has Never Been More Urgent

This is why we continue to serve in the Philippines.

This is why we teach the Bible.

This is why we disciple believers.

This is why we reach out to children, families, communities, and churches.

Because every soul matters.

Every person deserves to hear that Jesus Christ loves them.

That He died for their sins.

That He rose again.

And that eternal life is available through Him.

The clock is moving toward eternity.

People are making eternal decisions every single day.

That is why we cannot afford to become distracted.

Heavenly Father,

Our hearts are burdened as we look at the brokenness around us. Thank You for reminding us that our hope is not found in human wisdom alone, but in Jesus Christ, who changes hearts and gives eternal life. Send laborers into Your harvest. Empower Your Church to proclaim the Gospel with compassion, courage, and truth. Help us to be faithful in praying, giving, going, and sharing until every person has had the opportunity to hear the Good News.

The world does not simply need another opinion.

It needs another witness.

It does not simply need another program.

It needs another preacher of the Gospel.

It does not simply need another debate.

It needs another soul introduced to Jesus Christ.

The harvest is still plentiful.

The laborers are still few.

May we answer His call while there is still time.
