YOU MADE IT THIS FAR... NOW LET'S PRAY

Preparing Our Hearts Before We Enter the Throne Room of Grace

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray..." — 2 Chronicles 7:14

If you're reading these words, you've already done something many people never do.

You didn't stop at the headline.

You didn't simply skim the opening paragraph.

You followed the breadcrumbs all the way here.

So first, thank you.

That tells me something about you.

It tells me you're looking for more than another article to read. You're looking for hope. You're looking for answers. Most importantly, you're looking to hear from God.

This week, we're not merely discussing prayer.

We're going to pray.

Not polished prayers.

Not eloquent prayers.

Not prayers designed to impress people.

We're going to pray the kind of prayers that move the heart of God because they come from broken hearts that recognize their complete dependence upon Him.

Before we bow our heads, however, let's honestly acknowledge what we're facing as a nation and as the Church.

America Is Hurting

It doesn't take long to realize that something is deeply wrong.

Families are under enormous pressure.

Marriages are collapsing.

Children are growing up confused about truth, identity, and purpose.

Drug addiction continues to devastate homes.

Violence fills our streets.

Human trafficking exploits the innocent.

Pornography is destroying minds and relationships.

Depression, loneliness, and anxiety have become common companions for millions.

Suicide continues to rob families of loved ones.

Many elderly people feel forgotten.

The poor struggle to survive.

The middle class feels squeezed.

Communities have become increasingly divided.

Political disagreements have become personal hatred.

Truth is often exchanged for convenience.

Integrity is sacrificed for popularity.

Entertainment frequently celebrates what God calls sin.

Many no longer ask, "Is it right?"

Instead they ask,

"Will I get away with it?"

The Church Faces Its Own Challenges

The world has always needed the Church.

The question is whether the Church is being the Church.

Many congregations remain faithful, preaching Christ with courage and compassion.

Yet Scripture also calls us to examine ourselves.

Are we praying as we should?

Have we become comfortable while our communities drift farther from God?

Have we substituted activity for intimacy with Christ?

Have we become better at entertaining than evangelizing?

Do we know more about current events than we do God's Word?

Have we become so busy defending our opinions that we've forgotten to proclaim the Gospel?

Do we still weep over lost souls?

Do we still believe revival is possible?

Do we still expect God to do what only God can do?

These are not questions of condemnation.

They are questions of reflection.

Revival has always begun when God's people became honest before God.

What Should We Pray About?

This week, let's intentionally bring these matters before the Lord.

Pray for:

• Spiritual awakening across America and around the world.
• Revival in our churches and renewed passion for God's Word.
• Pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and ministry leaders.
• Families, marriages, and children.
• Those battling addiction, depression, anxiety, and hopelessness.
• Victims of abuse, human trafficking, and violence.
• Our military, law enforcement, firefighters, emergency responders, and healthcare workers.
• Government leaders at every level—that they would seek wisdom, justice, and righteousness.
• Schools, teachers, and students.
• The protection of unborn life and the dignity of every human being.
• The spread of the Gospel to every nation.
• Those who have never heard the name of Jesus.
• Hearts to repent where we have drifted from God.
• Courage to live faithfully in a culture that increasingly rejects biblical truth.

And finally...

Pray that you and I will be the kind of believers God can trust with revival.

Now... Let's Pray

Our Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with humble hearts, recognizing that You alone are God. You are holy, righteous, just, merciful, faithful, and true. Before a single request leaves our lips, we pause simply to worship You. There is none like You in Heaven or on earth. You spoke the worlds into existence. You sustain every heartbeat. You know every tear, every burden, every fear, and every unanswered question. We bless Your holy name.

Father, we confess that we have often been quicker to complain than to pray, quicker to criticize than to intercede, quicker to trust ourselves than to depend upon You. Forgive us. Search our hearts and reveal anything that grieves Your Spirit. Wash us afresh through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and create within us clean hearts that long to please You.

Lord, we lift before You our nation. We see the violence, the division, the addiction, the broken homes, the confusion, the hatred, the greed, the pride, and the growing indifference toward You. Yet we also know that no darkness is greater than Your light. Stretch forth Your mighty hand once again. Turn hearts back to Christ. Raise up men and women who will stand for truth with both courage and compassion.

We pray for every church that faithfully proclaims Your Word. Strengthen pastors who are weary. Encourage missionaries serving far from home. Protect evangelists, teachers, and faithful servants whose names may never be known publicly but are written in Heaven. Fill our churches with holiness instead of hypocrisy, conviction instead of complacency, repentance instead of pride, and worship that springs from hearts surrendered completely to You.

Father, remember the hurting today. Comfort the widow. Strengthen the single parent. Heal the brokenhearted. Deliver those trapped by addiction. Rescue those caught in human trafficking. Protect our children from those who would exploit them. Visit hospital rooms, prison cells, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and lonely apartments. Let those who feel forgotten discover that You have never forgotten them.

We pray for our leaders. Grant them wisdom that comes from above. Restrain evil. Exalt righteousness. Help them govern with justice, humility, and integrity. We pray for our military, our police officers, firefighters, emergency responders, and healthcare workers. Place Your hand of protection upon them as they faithfully serve others.

Lord, breathe fresh life into Your people. Wake us from spiritual sleep. Restore our first love. Give us a renewed hunger for Your Word, a deeper burden for prayer, and an unquenchable passion to tell others about Jesus Christ. May our lives be sermons before we ever speak a word.

And Father, we especially remember the mission fields of the world. Bless those laboring in places where the Gospel is rarely heard. Open doors that no one can shut. Provide every need. Protect every missionary family. Let the light of Christ shine brightly throughout the Philippines, across Asia, and to the ends of the earth.

Finally, Lord, begin with us.

If revival is coming, let it begin in our hearts.

If repentance is needed, let it begin with us.

If the Gospel is to spread, let us be willing messengers.

May we never merely talk about prayer while neglecting to pray.

Teach us to seek Your face before we seek Your hand.

And when history records these days, may it be said that God's people humbled themselves, sought His face, believed His promises, and witnessed His mighty hand at work once again.

We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless, and saving name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
