The Rapture: What the Bible Says—and Why It Matters Now
๐ “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18
What is the Rapture?
The Rapture is the moment when Jesus Christ returns in the air to gather His Church—both the living and the dead in Christ—transforming them and taking them to be with Him forever. It is a promise of hope, not fear; of reunion, not separation.
Why isn’t the word “Rapture” in the Bible?
The term “Rapture” comes from the Latin word rapturo, meaning “to be caught up.” This is drawn from the Greek word harpazล used in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, which means “to seize” or “snatch away.” While the word “Rapture” is not in the English Bible, the event is clearly described.
Who coined the term?
The term developed over time through early Bible translations and theological teaching, particularly from the Latin Vulgate. It became widely used in Christian doctrine to describe this prophetic event.
When will the Rapture occur?
The Bible is clear: no man knows the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36). It will come suddenly, unexpectedly—like a thief in the night. It is an imminent event, meaning it could happen at any moment.
Are current world events pointing toward it?
Wars, unrest, moral decline, global instability—these are not the cause of the Rapture, but they are consistent with what Scripture describes as the “last days.” They remind us not to set dates, but to stay ready.
This is not a message of speculation—it is a call to preparation.
To be ready is to know Christ, to walk with Him, and to live with eternity in view.
✨ “And so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
If there was ever a time to be ready, it is now.
