You May Never Know How Far One Act of Faith Will Travel

Have you ever wondered what happens after you help someone?

Not immediately afterward.

Not when they say, “Thank you.”

Not when the photograph is taken, the missionary moves to the next village, the food has been distributed, the Bible has been given, or the prayer has ended.

We mean after that.

A week later.

A year later.

Ten years later.

What happens when the person you encouraged begins encouraging someone else?

What happens when the child whose education you helped support grows up and becomes a teacher?

What happens when the young person who heard about Jesus because someone cared enough to go becomes a pastor, missionary, mother, father, business owner, community leader, or simply a faithful Christian who tells another person about Christ?

What happens when one becomes two—and two become twenty?

That is one of the beautiful mysteries of ministry.

We can see where the seed is planted. We cannot always see where the harvest will end.

“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:7

THE PART OF MINISTRY MOST PEOPLE NEVER SEE

When people hear the word “missions,” they often picture the visible moments.

A missionary preaching.

Someone receiving food.

Children receiving school supplies.

A Bible being placed into someone's hands.

A family being prayed for.

A church gathering.

A community outreach.

Those moments matter tremendously.

But they are only the beginning.

The greatest impact of ministry may occur after everyone has gone home.

Someone remembers the Scripture they heard.

A mother prays differently because someone reminded her that God has not forgotten her.

A young person begins wondering whether God might have a purpose for his or her life.

A struggling believer decides not to quit.

Someone who had almost abandoned faith whispers one more prayer:

“Lord, help me.”

And heaven hears it.

That is why Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International believes ministry cannot simply be measured by crowds, numbers, photographs, buildings, or statistics.

Sometimes the greatest miracle begins quietly.

WHAT IF YOU NEVER SEE THE RESULT?

That can be difficult.

We like results.

We like knowing that something worked.

If we give, we want to know what happened.

If we pray, we want to see the answer.

If we witness, we hope the person immediately responds.

If we serve, we naturally want to know that our service made a difference.

But the Kingdom of God does not always operate according to our timetable.

Jesus spoke about seed.

Seed disappears before it appears.

It goes beneath the soil.

For a while, nothing seems to be happening.

Then something breaks through.

That is ministry.

You may pray for someone today and never know that your prayer strengthened them tomorrow.

You may help put a Bible into someone's hands and never know how many people eventually read it.

You may help educate a child and never meet the people that child will influence decades from now.

You may support missionary work in a place you never personally visit—and discover in eternity that your obedience helped someone hear the Gospel.

Never underestimate what God can do with something placed faithfully into His hands.

ONE PERSON IS NEVER “JUST ONE PERSON”

This is something we must never forget.

We sometimes speak about reaching “one more” as though one were a small number.

One more soul.

One more child.

One more family.

One more village.

One more community.

But there is nothing small about one person.

Inside every person is an entire world of relationships.

Parents.

Children.

Friends.

Neighbors.

Coworkers.

Classmates.

Future generations.

Reach one person and you may have touched people you will never meet.

That is why Jesus could leave the ninety-nine and go after one.

The one mattered.

And the one still matters.

THIS IS WHY WE GO

Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International believes the Gospel must have feet.

It must travel beyond church walls.

It must enter communities.

It must reach children.

It must sit beside hurting families.

It must encourage the forgotten.

It must feed when there is hunger, help when there is need, teach when there is opportunity, pray when circumstances seem impossible, and proclaim Jesus Christ wherever God opens a door.

Our calling is not simply to tell people that God loves them.

Whenever possible, we want to show them.

That is why our missionary vision reaches into communities in the Philippines and throughout Asia with evangelism, discipleship, educational assistance, humanitarian outreach, prayer, encouragement, and practical expressions of Christian compassion.

We cannot do everything.

We cannot reach everyone.

But we can reach someone.

And then someone can reach someone else.

THE RIPPLE YOU MAY NEVER SEE

Imagine dropping one small stone into perfectly still water.

The stone disappears almost immediately.

But the ripples continue.

Farther.

And farther.

And farther.

That is what faithful ministry can become.

Perhaps you prayed for this ministry.

Ripple.

Perhaps you shared one of our messages.

Ripple.

Perhaps you told someone about our missionary work.

Ripple.

Perhaps you gave $5, $20, $100, or whatever God placed upon your heart.

Ripple.

Perhaps you simply stopped and prayed:

“Lord, help them reach one more.”

Ripple.

You may never see where that ripple finally touches shore.

But God does.

SOMEBODY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR OBEDIENCE

There may be someone today whom you have never met waiting on the other side of an act of obedience.

A child.

A struggling parent.

A lonely teenager.

A discouraged believer.

A village family.

Someone searching for answers.

Someone wondering whether anybody cares.

Someone wondering whether God sees them.

And perhaps God will use you as one small part of His answer.

Not because you can save the world.

You cannot.

Neither can we.

But together, surrendered to God, we can do something wonderfully simple:

We can help one more.

And sometimes “one more” becomes a family.

A family becomes a community.

A community becomes a church.

A church sends another missionary.

And suddenly the little seed someone planted years earlier is still producing fruit.

SO… HOW FAR CAN ONE ACT OF FAITH TRAVEL?

We do not know.

And perhaps that is the most exciting part.

Maybe farther than you imagine.

Maybe farther than we will ever see in this lifetime.

Maybe all the way into eternity.

So keep praying.

Keep giving when God leads you.

Keep encouraging.

Keep sharing Jesus.

Keep helping.

Keep believing that seemingly small acts of obedience matter.

Because somewhere in this world, a life may be different tomorrow because somebody obeyed God today.

At Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International, our prayer remains simple:

Lord, help us reach one more soul, one more family, one more community, and one more nation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And when that one is reached?

Lord…

show us the next one.

PRAY WITH US

Father, thank You for every person You allow us to touch. Teach us never to despise small beginnings or underestimate a single act of obedience. Bless every missionary, every giver, every intercessor, every volunteer, and every person who quietly helps carry the Gospel forward. Take the seeds we plant and multiply them far beyond anything we could accomplish ourselves. Lead us to the forgotten, the hurting, the hungry, the searching, and those who have never heard. Give us the grace to keep going until one more person knows that Jesus loves them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
